Este 7 de agosto les invitamos a una jornada de música al aire libre desde las 19:00 en el patio de Panke. Arrancamos con un mercadito de pulgas y vinilo, acompañado de Open Decks para la comunidad, junto de un Salsa Workshop, para rematar con música en vivo de la mano de CRECIENTE y sets bien calientes para que no paremos de bailar hasta el amanecer. 🌞💃🏽

Dracaena es selectora y coleccionista de discos, nacida en Cali, Colombia y radicada en Berlín. Sus sets son enérgicos y envolventes, con un enfoque en potentes solos de percusión y piano, pensados tanto para bailar como para escuchar con atención. Su propuesta gira en torno a la salsa y los sonidos de la diáspora, especialmente ritmos afrocaribeños, afrolatinos y latinoamericanos. Es parte activa de la comunidad de coleccionistas en Berlín y del equipo organizador del @berlinensalsa . Dracaena también ha participado en charlas y paneles —entre ellos con @dldconference @radiospaceandance — compartiendo su experiencia como selectora y coleccionista en el cruce entre música, cultura e identidad.

The genre is lived by these two artists as a portable home and a threshold where memory, community, and celebration meet. In the space you’ll find a collection of cover art paintings, textile works, archival material and a devotional figure created between Berlin and Colombia. Not so much unfinished as always unfolding — Salsa House holds open the question: can a collection ever be complete? Whether of records, artworks, or memories.

Born in Cali, Colombia and based in Berlin, Dracaena is a selector, curator and record collector whose practice is rooted in salsa as an Afro-Latin sound. Her sets are energetic and immersive, driven by percussion, piano and rhythms made for both dancing and attentive listening.

As part of the team behind Berlín en Salsa, the city’s first fully free salsa festival, she actively contributes to Berlin’s salsa and Latinx music scene.

Dracaena is a music curator and cultural manager born in Cali, Colombia, and based in Berlin. Through her work, she explores the stories, memories and cultural connections that run through salsa, Latin jazz and Afro-Caribbean music. As founder and organiser of the @berlinensalsa festival, she seeks to create spaces for encounter, learning and exchange centred on salsa culture, understood not only as a musical genre but also as an expression of identity, migration, resistance and community.

How did salsa arrive in Cali? Why did a city in south-western Colombia end up becoming one of the world’s most important centres for this music?

This talk offers a journey through the social and musical history of Cali between the 1950s and 1980s, exploring the role of working-class neighbourhoods, the arrival of records via the port of Buenaventura, and the emergence of the agüelulos: youth gathering places where music, dance and community helped forge a distinct identity.

A través de su trabajo explora las historias, memorias y conexiones culturales que atraviesan la salsa, el jazz latino y las músicas afrocaribeñas.
