Flowerhead: Brahma Kamal.
2nd in the trio of updated flowerhead series- is our kakaji with his Brahma kamal ✨ I am rarely happy with a piece once it's done, but, have to admit I'm accepting of this one- mostly because these flowers and the scalloped leaves consumed so much of my focus I forgot i was feeling sick and now I'm normal O_o

What started as a simple painting request from Palash almost 2.5 years back, turned into one of the hardest things I've pulled off. I started this piece in secrecy, back in December '24, and almost instantly decided to turn this into a surprise, planning for Kratos to carry the wedding band I had picked out for Palash.
Couldn't finish the piece in time but surprised the man anyway (who was more excited about the half-done painting than the ring of course).
Here it is now, finally done, 7 months after I started (and, in effect, demanding only 11 full days of work).

[1/2] Video dump (is that what the kids are calling it these days?) from this INSANELY FUN project done with @purkalstreeshakti last year. Hands down my favourite wall mural so far

Day 3 is late to come, despite the fact that I painted this over two weeks ago! Editing reels really is a full time job...

I've made it a mission to deplete the acrylic reserves for good and move to gouache and oils. And the best way is to get them onto these ACEOs- that I can maybe trade at some point? I dunno...this isn't very thought through :D
.
ps: don't ask me where 'day 1' is.

Process of making my miniature Dhanaulti hill. I tried hard to not obsess over the details of the trees and the light-shadow and just...play!
Also an exercise in finishing up all my acrylics so I can move to gouache and oils completely.

I'm officially using these miniatures as an excuse to finish all the acrylics around me. Never used knife on such a small piece and it literally felt like I was buttering my toast. YUM.

Trying to find a way to streamline the fact that I need to do daily drills, make quick pieces that I don't obsess over, try new ideas/techniques, and experiment with mediums... everyday. Trying to see if ACEO will be the answer.
>> Swipe to see the leeetal hilltop in Dhanaulti that inspired this one.

Flowerhead: Genda
.
For the past few weeks I've been looking at some of my earlier paintings, and realised-
1. I used to have way better (crazier) ideas back then.
2. I have way better technical skills to execute them now.
Flowerheads have been my favourite since I made them in 2019. Making a new pass at them. Swipe for the 2019 version! by @draftingboard

Some quick pahaad to wrap up the weekend. Didn't spend too much time improving the blending and shadows- just something I could finish in an hour and be able to live with :D
