Has anyone seen the Anthony Bourdain movie, Tony?!?

I highly recommend seeing it! The ending teared me up real bad, with Eric Ripert’s cameo! 🥹🥹 #iykyk❤️

I thought I had a copy of Kitchen Confidential, but I do not. Guess I’ll have to go to my local bookstore to grab a copy. 🤣

What if you could get back the person you lost…but only to watch time move backward?

Under Story is this strange mix of science fiction, grief, alternate realities, and the extreme isolation of Antarctica.

The beginning was a bit of a slow burn for me, but once Laurel and Eli enter the Duoverse, I was hooked!

Imagine Dark Matter meets The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, except EVERYTHING is moving backward. 👀

And the albatross scene?! 💔😭 IYKYK.

At its heart, this book explores grief, parenthood, and just how far we might go for one more chance with someone we’ve lost, even knowing we may have to lose them all over again.

Definitely one of the more bizarre sci-fi concepts I’ve read recently, but highly recommend! If you have read this, PLEASE comment ⬇️!!! I need someone to talk to about this book!!!

Then Love Me Through the Storm needs to be on your TBR. ⛈️💙 This one had my heart racing, my anxiety THROUGH THE ROOF, and me desperately wanting to reach into the book and protect Lucy. 🥹

But underneath all of those intense moments is a story about feeling safe again, allowing yourself to be loved, and finding the people who will stand beside you through the storm. 💙

Just some good, creepy audiobook recommendations to get you in the spooky spirit! 👻🎧

🪾 NOWHERE

This was really good. It kind of reminded me of the movie Weapons because of the kids.
⠀
I think that’s what creeped me out the most, how the kids completely changed after having visited the woods.
⠀
Anything with weird, creepy children freaks me the f@&$! out. 👀 But I also really love Appalachian horror, and this definitely had that element.

Again, another somewhat creepy kid vibe, but what I enjoyed the most about this book was the house!
⠀
The house has this “sentient” vibe, and hearing the house’s POV about the various families that have lived there was insane. It was so wild, especially the ending! That threw me for a loop!

Now, I’m only a couple of hours in, but it is really good so far.
⠀
Luke Oshel struggles with something that “happened” to him when he was a child, attending hypnotherapy sessions to figure out if what happened actually happened.

On top of that, he starts receiving Polaroids of himself as a child, but with a dead body in the background, and has no recollection of ever having been in that situation.
⠀
But the child in the Polaroid looks exactly like him, so how can it not be? 👀

Happy Publishing Day to Love Me Through the Storm by @j.s.tazwell!!! ⛈️💙

This is easily a 6⭐️ read! The raw, highly intense emotions of this book had my heart literally beating almost out of my chest!

Lucy Campbell and Connor Lochland’s love story has only just begun, but with Lucy away at veterinary school in England and Connor back in White River, Montana, juggling the responsibilities of two farms, making time for each other isn’t exactly easy.

On top of the challenges of a long-distance relationship, Lucy is struggling with intense flashbacks involving her abusive ex-boyfriend, Callum.

Not wanting to add anything else to Connor’s already-full plate, she tries to deal with everything on her own.

But what initially seems like trauma resurfacing soon begins to feel a little too real, and things take a very unfortunate turn.

So, I’ve definitely read other books since Yesteryear, but this is a continuation of the Trad Wife theme.

Yesteryear was wild and completely unhinged, but I absolutely loved it.

It has definitely stirred up quite a bit of conversation, and while it may be a somewhat controversial read, I enjoyed the hell out of this book.

If you haven’t read Fruit Fly yet, what are you doing with your life?!? 🙃

(J/k, everyone has a lot going on. But seriously, read this when you have some downtime!! 😂)

I’ve probably said this about a few books this year, but Fruit Fly might actually be my favorite book I’ve read so far. It’s dark, sad, uncomfortable, and somehow incredibly funny, mostly because of the absolutely outlandish things Mallory does.

Mallory Maddox has been struggling with writer’s block for several years and desperately needs a way out. Convinced that “gay sells,” she decides her next bestseller will center around the gay experience. There’s just one problem: Mallory knows absolutely nothing about it.

So, with the help of Grindr, she begins a highly questionable and increasingly risky attempt to gather firsthand material for her book. But a chance encounter with Leo, a gay man struggling with drug addiction, sends her story in an entirely different direction. What follows is Mallory increasingly exploiting Leo’s life, experiences, and vulnerabilities for the sake of her own success.

At first, Mallory was extremely infuriating but she grew on me. Leo is heartbreaking. Their relationship is incredibly complicated and yet, somehow they saved one another.

I genuinely cannot stop thinking about it.
