💜 WE RETURN - SUNDAY 💜

Hey everyone 👋 With the weekend approaching, we are looking forward to getting back to Dragonfly on Sunday for some Open Decks Social fun after our summer break. We hope to see as many of you there as possible.

🟣 *Location* - Dragonfly bar, West Port
🟣 *Start time* - 5pm
🟣 *Format* - 1️⃣ put your name in the hat when you get in, 2️⃣ we'll draw the next DJ between each set
🟣 *DJ sets* - 8 x 30 minute sets (sets start at 6pm)
🟣 *Genre* - any
🟣 *Tech* - we will be using 2x Pioneer XDJ1000 Mk 2s and a Pioneer DJM 750 mixer (digital only for this event)
🟣 *USBs* - if you have only played on a controller before, check out the group info for tips on formatting your USB for use with Rekordbox
🟣 *Important* - we are very proud of our community, so please treat others with respect at all times
🟣 *Questions* - join the WhatsApp community via the link in our bio

If you haven't been down to one of our events before, we'd just like to emphasise how much fun these are and how welcoming the community is. We place as much emphasis on the social aspect of the evening as we do the music.

THIS SATURDAY! @look_busy_collective take over the decks!

Look Busy are a collective of DJs and record collectors, based between Edinburgh and Aberdeen, who also have a weekly radio show on Manchester-based independent radio station, Disc Break Radio. They have a broad sound, with house music at the core, so they are equally at home in a basement club, festival stage or cocktail bar. Expect anything from 90s deep house to the latest quirky hand-stamped white label disco edits.

From escaping persecution in underground parties to building some of the most iconic and influential events across the world, queer DJs and dancers have been pivotal to underground club culture as it exists today. We're preparing for a BIG Friday party celebrating this on 19th June! 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️

*Please note we are aiming for a full LGBTQ+ lineup so we encourage you to fill out the DJ form if you identify as a member of this community* though everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the party 🪩

We’re looking for some new people to join the team at Dragonfly.
We have a couple of opportunities available, from entry level to senior management. The right candidates will be passionate about hospitality, curious about cocktails, have a strong work ethic and take pride in delivering great service as part of a dedicated team.
You’ll become part of an independent business which loves to create a fun and friendly atmosphere for everybody who walks through the door. Full time bartender positions (minimum full time hours are 35 per week) with a starting wage of £12.75ph.
Senior management position from £14, negotiable depending on experience. We're looking for somebody to lead the team, handle bookings, events and parties whilst upholding a high service standard.

Dragonfly is a stalwart of the Edinburgh bar scene and for over 21 years has been serving up playful cocktails, well known or obscure classics and has been the venue for all manner of celebrations. We host a variety of events including weekly standup comedy, regular DJs, gigs and occasional restaurant pop ups.
You’ll enjoy paid breaks, 30% staff discount, a positive working environment, creative input on menu development, your birthday (and the next day!) off, paid meetings and training sessions to name a few.

Open Decks Social is ONE YEAR OLD in March and everyone involved should be SO PROUD of the community we’ve built over the last year! Whether you’ve played a set, come down to support or helped someone out in General chat, we love what you guys have been doing ♥️

We couldn’t have done any of it without you guys throwing yourself out your comfort zone to meet new folk or DJing non-stop bangers at Dragonfly. We are so grateful and can’t wait to see what another year brings with it!🔥

You and all your friends are all formally invited to our party on Friday 20th March where we will be throwing a BIG party to celebrate! Anyone who came down to our last Friday special in November will know the vibe… We’ll start at 7 and will continue til close. 🎈

The signup form is now live in the "community info" section of our WhatsApp Community so feel free to put your name down. We expect this event to be heavily subscribed and will do our best to get as many people on as possible but PLEASE come down for the party if you don’t get one. You won’t want to miss this!

The official afterparty will take place at People’s Leisure Club for the Bristo Snare Debut party, a good-time discoteque and multi-genre dance night ran by two of our organisers (Jed and Freddy). 🪩
