ARCH 2510 Final — Site Plan

ARCH 2510 Midterm — Highland Form

This project focused on developing a landscape through a series of explorations in topography, structure, and form. Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, the design creates a series of spaces for pause, movement, and interaction within the terrain.

The process was broken into multiple studies. Through sticks/joints, I explored structural systems and connections, understanding how individual elements come together to form a larger framework. In complex surfaces, I experimented with molded forms to study curvature, enclosure, and spatial experience. These investigations informed the final topographic design.

The landscape itself is shaped through layered contour models, translating natural terrain into an inhabitable space. Moments of rest, pathways, and architectural interventions are integrated into the site, creating a balance between built form and environment.

ARCH 2510 Midterm — Casting + Light Studies

This project explored three architectural ideas: space, texture, and module, using casting and molding as the main process. Each model was created by experimenting with material, form, and negative space. Through casting, I was able to shape interior voids and surfaces that aren’t immediately visible from the outside. The forms were then studied under different lighting conditions, where light revealed new spaces, edges, and spatial relationships within each piece.

For texture, I focused on how surface conditions could be formed through the casting process, creating grooves and layered impressions that interact with light.

For module, I developed repeated forms that come together to create a larger system, exploring how individual pieces relate and build a unified whole.

For space, I studied how light moves through and defines interior voids, showing how shadows and highlights can transform the perception of form.

The final board documents both the process and the outcome—showing how each concept evolved through iterations, material testing, and lighting studies. This project pushed me to think about architecture beyond structure—focusing on how light, material, and form work together to create spatial experiences. by @drake_studio_design

ARCH 1510 I Final Renderings

These are my first attempts at creating architectural renderings, completed in just 2 days using Photoshop. The goal was to bring my interactive wall concept to life and place it within its intended context—a park at Clemson designed for relaxation and study breaks between classes.

The design is inspired by the movement of a fidget spinner, translated into rotating and shifting architectural elements. The curved forms and stepped seating create a space that encourages both interaction and pause.

This process was a big learning experience for me, especially working quickly while figuring out rendering techniques for the first time. Definitely a starting point, but an exciting step in developing how I visualize and present my designs. by @drake_studio_design

ARCH 1510 l Final 

Before designing the final wall, we started by fully breaking down and studying a fidget spinner. This meant taking apart every component, creating orthographic drawings, and producing an exploded isometric to understand how each piece connects and functions.

Through solid/void studies, figure-ground analysis, and spatial explorations, I examined how the object is constructed and how its parts relate to one another. The movement analysis focused on how the spinner rotates around a central axis and how the outer elements contribute to its overall motion. These studies helped translate a small, mechanical object into a larger architectural idea.

We only had 3 weeks to complete this entire process, from initial analysis to final presentation, which pushed me to work quickly while still being intentional with every drawing and model. This phase was critical in shaping the final design and understanding how movement can drive space. by @drake_studio_design

ARCH 1510 - Final Board

This project started with a simple object—a fidget spinner—and challenged us to translate its movement into an architectural concept. In just 3 weeks, I designed an interactive wall that mimics the spinner’s motion through rotating and sliding elements. Each component moves along an axis or pivots in place, creating layered, kinetic interactions inspired by the original object.

The structure is placed in a park at Clemson, designed as a space for relaxation and study breaks between classes. The rotating arches, shifting panels, and interactive elements invite users to engage with the wall both physically and spatially.

This project pushed me to think about movement as a driver of design, not just form. Presented in front of critics, it was a fast-paced but rewarding process that challenged how I approach structure, interaction, and experience. by @drake_studio_design

ARCH 1510 - Orthographic study + exploded drawing of a fidget spinner. 

This project was about fully understanding an object—breaking it down into every component and analyzing how it works. By taking it apart, I was able to study both its structure and the movements it creates.

I found that the spinner has two types of motion. The first is the primary circular rotation around a central axis. The second comes from the outer three weighted points, which create an additional sense of rotational movement as the entire piece spins. This assignment pushed me to look beyond the surface and really understand how motion, balance, and assembly come together in a simple object. by @drake_studio_design

ARCH 1010 | Final Review — Birdhouse Design

This project was developed for my ARCH 1010 final review and centered around the design of a birdhouse. We began by visiting our site and completing a full site analysis to understand the environmental conditions and how they would influence the design. Each student then selected a bird to study — mine was the white-throated sparrow — and researched its habitat, behavior, and spatial needs.

The final design responds both to the surrounding environment and the specific needs of the bird, while also reflecting my assigned term, aggregation. Throughout the process, I created multiple study models to test different ideas before arriving at the final form. The folds and intersections in the final model express aggregation through the coming together of elements into a cohesive whole. by @drake_studio_design
