My little Rey Rey is the best dog ever! Her favorite thing to do is hunt "bun buns". This is part of a charcoal series I'm doing for future prints.

My 2023 bow hunting season has been quite the rollercoaster ride. I have learned through numerous encounters this year that 99% right won't cut it. Finally the grind of hunting hard and scouting harder paid off. Halloween weekend did not disappoint as I was able to nail it on this high pressured #publicland king of the swamp. I watched him get up out of the bed I had scouted 2 years prior and he came marching in for an 18 yard shot frontal shot. Thanks to the @ranchfairy learnings, my 500gr arrow passed through the full length of his body and he piled up 40 yards away. Warning, graphic pictures on the frontal shot if you swipe.

This hunting season has tested me mentally more than any other. Thanks to the man upstairs, he put this verse on my mind and it helped me immensely:

Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.

September cannot come fast enough! May your knees and backs be sore from heavy packs!

Matthew 11:29-30: Jesus said- Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Hunting season is only two months away! I've been working on some hunting apparel for y'all. This is the latest Swamp Buck Embroidered hat. Swing out to the @huntstockfest July 17-19 in Beaver Dam to check out the show! I am working on a website, so I'm not quite ready yet for online orders.

My first leather goods project and it was a fun one! This hide is from my first buck I ever shot almost 20 years ago. The tie off is the base of an antler. This gave me a whole new respect for native Americans and how they made their clothing and hunting gear.

To the ones that remain at large. The ones that keep us awake at night wondering just what they’re going to be doing in the fall. The bucks that could fall to any predator, poacher, or hunter at any moment. The hit listers that help us grow as hunters along the way. The public land ghosts that seem to be everywhere and no where at the same time. This shirt commemorates the buck. While we hope to catch up with our targets, there’s a beauty to knowing that these public land warriors are just like us. May they live on to fool us another day. by @drake_studios_

Super fun graphic art project with @wildcallingoutdoors. This is the King of the Swamp design inspired by the southern Wisconsin nasty swamp terrain we call home! by @drake_studios_
