Today is National #EmergencyNursesDay and we’re featuring one of our own, Sam See! Sam recently graduated from the ABSN program in August and now works as an RN at Broadlawns in the Emergency Department 🏥🚑 @broadlawnsmedicalcenter

Sam said “Throughout my time spent with Drake nursing, it was clear that the professors truly cared about the growth of each student as we worked to learn all things nursing. We were provided with rich clinical experiences which set Drake nursing apart from other programs, and due to these clinicals I felt prepared to start in the ER as a new graduate RN.”

Today we celebrate Sam and all of the other emergency nurses on the frontlines of patient care.

Building Community: Harnessing the Power of OT in the Heartland 🫶🌾

We were fortunate to represent Drake OT at this Midwestern joint conference bringing together occupational therapy students and professionals from across Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri. @iowa_ot_association @nebraskaot @missouriotassoc

O2 students Megan Gerasch, Zoe Drew and Allie Anderson had the opportunity to join Dean Maki and Professors Urish and Jackson in Kansas City to attend this experience. Highlights include a poster presentation by Megan on “International Allies: A Pen Pal Project in Occupational Therapy” as well as getting to meet and hear from AOTA President Arameh Anvarizadeh. @aotainc

Roll up your sleeve, it’s flu shot season! 💉

Thanks to our @drakeapha student pharmacists and @broadlawnsmedicalcenter partners for holding a flu clinic on campus to protect our Drake students, faculty and staff. Even Griff III stopped by in case anybody needed a paw to hold.

If you missed last week’s clinic, don’t worry! You can still get your flu shot on campus on October 14 between 10 am and 2 pm in Olmsted at the Pomerantz Stage. A one second jab will save you so much time wasted being sick🤒
