Claudia Hall, Drake Law 3L, is the recipient of the 2026 Iowa chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) Scholarship. This scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate great potential as a future trial lawyer based on their grades, clinical performance, or other internships.

Claudia was recognized for her extensive trial experience as an intern at the Polk County Attorney’s Office. She served as a student attorney in a first-degree robbery trial and an attempted murder case featured in the 2026 First Year Trial Practicum. In both trials, she wrote and delivered opening statements, conducted direct examinations of approximately half of the witnesses, and helped prepare witnesses and evidence. For the attempted murder trial, she also wrote and delivered the closing argument.

Claudia was nominated by Professor Steve Foritano, with support from Olu Salami, JD’02, her supervisor at the Polk County Attorney’s Office. In his recommendation, Olu noted that “she was poised, articulate, and truly outstanding in front of a jury.”

Congratulations, Claudia! by @drakelawschool
