My best friend and I were generally discussing how taking a career break is often looked down upon. It was a candid conversation and we soon realized how we questioned ourselves too.

Financial independence is extremely important and the risk of not being employable after a long break is definitely worrisome. But being in a toxic environment that takes away your mental peace, sleep and health is a larger risk.

No, none of us have taken a break, but have convinced ourselves that it is ok to sometimes let life take its own course.
I took up a new job and that has helped me focus a lot on myself. There is time for a good workout, morning tea and easy weekends. I am slowly being able to work on things that I ignored for a really long time. Life is looking up and that is such a beautiful feeling.

When I was shooting for Geeti's @geetanjali_boutique Pushpa Vatika, handloom and handpainted Madhubani saree, by the beach, I felt good. The fact that I lifted myself up, prepped for this and actually showed up, felt so good.

Also, this gorgeous colour added so much positivity to my morning. The painting here depicts Goddess Sita with her friends in Pushpa Vatika, where she first laid her eyes on Lord Ram before the Swayamvar.

This beauty is truly a labour of love, handcrafted by the women artisans in Darbhanga, Bihar.

I had once read this quote somewhere, "You are currently living one of the prayers you used to pray" and it always stuck with me.

The day I got off the tube and walked straight into the Christmas lights, I felt that quote. The angels, all lit, hanging on the street is something I have watched on the internet or heard from those who visited London during Christmas. The idea of being in a city that I loved even without visiting, during the most gorgeous time of the year was a dream and maybe somewhere a silent prayer.

The last twenty days were filled with moments of extreme joy, warmth of family (despite the cold), bit of anxiousness(the solo bit) and memories that will last me a lifetime. My brother, sister (in-law) and her mom made this trip the highlight of my year. Not to forget my friends there who took out time to ensure I have the best experience ever!

I cannot choose one place or moment that stood out to me. Everyday was a new day that gave me so much happiness and good vibes. I can write an essay on how I felt in The UK, where all I went and what I did. But I will keep that to myself and smile every time a moment flashes by.

On the last day of the year, all I can say is, I am grateful for the life that I have right now. I am grateful for the people who stood by me, no matter what. It's been a good year even though there were phases of extreme low.

The constant grief that will never leave me, is entering another year without Mini. But I know she would have stared hard at me if I sulked and cried. So I will raise a toast to her tonight and smile at those beautiful memories she left behind.

I tried my best to keep a straight face while taking photos of this pretty vintage top I thrifted, but this was the best I could do 🫣.

Finding vintage shops here in Adelaide has been my biggest flex; it has helped me curate a wardrobe that is both wearable and timeless.

Not the biggest fan of the cold, but always a fan of a good vintage coat. ❄️🤎

Building a winter wardrobe hasn't been easy, but discovering some amazing thrift stores around the city has been a life saviour!

Thrifting saved me money and helped me build a winter wardrobe that I genuinely enjoy wearing, restyling and reusing.

These photos are from a stroll around the city today, while the last one was taken a year ago when a friend came to visit.

Same coat, same boots, just different temperatures and different vibes.

How do you explain an Indian wedding to someone who hasn't experienced one? Especially when it's the wedding of one of your closest friends.

The feeling at home, parents dancing with tears in their eyes, a bride in red, friends reuniting and so many moments that remind you how lucky you are to have your people around you.

One of the most special parts for me was wearing outfits designed by one of my best friends, @tabassumkhankalim and having my makeup done by another best friend, @sukhmani112

I was missing Goa, so I put together pictures from the 3 trips that I took this year 😅

I restyled my clothes in all the trips because that's what I always do #restylingwithpenaaz (swipe through)

Just practised what I preach here 🤭

I did some major #restylingwithpenaaz with clothes that I borrowed from friends and family, during my vacation.

The vacation was six months ago! I finally thought of putting together most of my looks. It was futile to shop for warm clothes, footwear and other accessories like mufflers etc (Mumbai weather will never let me wear them!)
I also borrowed skirts and dresses that would help me create some stylish looks.

We all want to look good when on vacation. I tried doing it with other people's clothes 😛

A huge shout out to my sister (in-law) @arushijolly_ who very generously opened up her entire wardrobe to me. I literally wore every jacket of hers!🤗

My stylish friend @amishakhanna sat through an entire evening and ended up stuffing two bags with her amazing winter wear💓

My best friend @sukhmani112 ensured I had all my looks in place. I borrowed her gloves and boots 🫠

This trip will be one of my favourites and these incredible women made sure it was stylish too (not to forget sustainable as well)

Someone rightly said, "There's something about childhood friends that you just can't replace!"

These girls have been my strength since childhood. They have seen me at my worst, cheered me at my best and never let me quit. It's been 30 years of friendship and there was no better way of celebrating it, than finally doing that Goa Trip!

In every moment of the trip, Mini was missed. We missed her when we walked on the beach and the waves softly touched our toes. We missed her when we were dancing only to suddenly realise that one star is shining bright in the sky. We missed her when we clicked pictures and the 'Special 6' just had 5 faces. But we know she was there, every moment, smiling at us and happy that we did not fall apart. She was and will always be the glue of the group.

This trip was my best getaway in years ❤️

Just put together few moments that we will cherish for life!
