They sold you the lie that glass skin equals good skin.
But in chasing shine, you burned through what mattered:
Skin health. Barrier integrity. Realistic beauty.

Let’s get honest. Skin isn’t made for ring lights.
It’s made for life.
If you’re tired of the chase, you’re not alone.

Tag someone who’s ready to break the glassy trap.
Save this if you’ve ever questioned the routine you were bullied into buying.
And remember: You are not your texture.

Honoured to be felicitated by the uber humble actor Emraan Hashmi a few hours back. Humbled to be named as one of the Society Achievers.

Extra special as today also marks the august occasion of the “World Skin Health Day”. Shared my topical views on the subject and promoted good and clean skin health, while on stage.

HARD SKIN TRUTHS

Saw this at Bodhgaya Museum.
A “skin rubber”, at least 15 centuries old.

Glad to know we’ve evolved.

On second thought…

Coffee grounds. Walnut shells. Scrubbing beads. The urge to sandpaper our faces is clearly doing well.

Aggressive mechanical exfoliation can irritate skin and worsen pigmentation, especially in pigment prone brown skin.

Scrub to remove dark marks. Create more irritation. Get more dark marks. Buy another scrub.

Excellent business model. Terrible skincare.

15 centuries later, have we evolved, or just learnt to sell friction in a fancy jar?

And my patients just can’t get enough of their scrubs! by @draseemsharmamd

For someone who usually has a lot to say, I was remarkably quiet here.
For a change.

Mahabodhi. Bodh Gaya. Where Siddhartha Gautama attained enlightenment and became the Buddha. Praying in front of the Bodhi Tree was as surreal as can be.

I’m not particularly religious. Deeply spiritual, though. And standing here felt surreal.

Buddhist tradition remembers the 49 days after his awakening as seven weeks at seven sacred places.

49 days! We struggle to sit through seven minutes without checking a notification. Myself included. Probably the worst of the lot.

I spend my days telling people to be patient with their skin. Apparently, your dermatologist needed the same advice! Vowed to start meditating again someday.

I sat. Bowed my head. Left quieter, and grateful.

Which place has made you feel something you couldn’t quite explain? by @draseemsharmamd

The headline said ninth in the world.
My afternoon explained why.

Bihar Museum, Patna.
No. 9 globally and No. 1 in Asia on a World’s 100 Best Museums 2026 list.

I read the recent news just before this trip from the very best @palkisharmashow

I was traveling to Bodh Gaya this weekend to moderate a Dermatology panel at Cuticon Bihar. Between the travel commitments, an afternoon HAD to be found.

Inside this haven is a beautifully paced journey through early human cultures, ancient civilisations, Magadha and the empires that followed. Terracotta faces. Buddhist sculpture. Gold coins. Mithila paintings. Objects that turn history from something you memorised into something you can actually see.

Patna was Pataliputra, an imperial capital. Bihar was home to Nalanda, a centre of learning whose influence travelled far beyond India. Scholarship, statecraft, faith, art and trade all belong to this region’s story.

Our geography of admiration could use an update.

The galleries also follow Bihar’s people beyond its borders. A reminder that heritage travels with those who leave, too.

Naturally, my fieldwork extended to my first litti chokha, Champaran mutton and sattu sharbat. Civilisation deserved my attention. Lunch did too.

A wonderful afternoon, made possible by making time. And by @meghaschadha my sister and unofficial tour guide.

Which Indian museum deserves a place on more itineraries? by @draseemsharmamd

Goa for her. Gaya for me.

She has a vitiligo expert meeting. I have a core dermatology panel to moderate at CUTICON Bihar.
She gets beaches. I get enlightenment.

And somehow, I’m the one accused of going for masti.

One ADMIRE Academy. Two boarding passes.
Clearly, a very fair division of academic duties.

Who got the better deal? by @draseemsharmamd

Your patients aren’t just looking for a procedure. They’re looking for confidence, results and an experience worth trusting. ✨

Is your practice delivering what they truly expect?

London. Part I: Icons & Architecture.

London gets three posts. I’m calling that restraint.

Tower Bridge from every available angle, including a pair of sunglasses. Westminster Abbey making a compelling case against minimalism. Big Ben looking just as good upside down in a puddle. Buckingham Palace doing little to lower my expectations of a front gate.

The London Eye. The Shard. The Thames. Red buses, ceremonial uniforms and rather a lot of gold. Then a pink, fur-trimmed rickshaw on Westminster Bridge. Clearly, the surroundings needed more drama!

Yes, this is the touristy chapter. I’m perfectly happy to be predictable when the view is this good. The next post will do what we do best - the hidden gems and missed angles!

Part II: the streets.
Part III: the rain. Because London rain deserves its own post. It’s already muscled its way into several of these photographs.

Which London landmark still makes you stop, however many times you’ve seen it? by @draseemsharmamd

Great training begins with the right mentors. ✨

At ADMIRE Academy, learn from faculty who bring expertise, experience and a deeper perspective to advanced aesthetic practice.

Because who you learn from shapes how you grow. 🩺
