After a year-long process of creation, we are thrilled to present our drawing series “Palladio in Silence” — four hand-crafted collages and one panoramic digital drawing — at the exhibition “Chinese Voices on Palladio,” opening today at Tsinghua University Art Museum in Beijing and on view through October 11, 2026.“Palladio in Silence” explores the curious presence of Palladian architecture in contemporary China, where Palladio remains largely unknown outside professional circles, while his architectural language appears widely in vernacular constructions. Through the collection, adaptation, and reassembly of Palladian-style buildings found across China, the project transforms these anonymous imitations into a fictional architectural landscape, reflecting on the relationship between classical tradition, cultural translation, and everyday urban space.“Chinese Voices on Palladio” brings together fourteen Chinese architects — Yung Ho Chang, Dong Gong, Li Xinggang, Li Han, Zhu Pei, Wang Hui, He Jianxian, Jiang Yin, Hua Li, Doreen Heng Liu, Zhang Li, Fang Xiaofeng, Xu Haohao, and Feng Jiang — alongside a newly commissioned photographic series by Lois Conner and works by five Italian artists, exploring the continuing relevance of Palladio’s architectural thought across cultures and disciplines.“Chinese Voices on Palladio” is curated by the Department of Architecture and Design of Politecnico di Torino and co-organized with Tsinghua University Art Museum and the School of Architecture of Tsinghua University, with the support of the Institute of the Italian Encyclopaedia Treccani.#drawingarchitecturestudio #architecturaldrawing #architecturedrawing #palladio by @drawingarchitecturestudio

Really honored and grateful to be part of the exhibition “A Structure of Feeling,” curated by Gao Changjun (Kris) @krisgaocj , with curatorial advice from Li Xiangning, on view at Aedes, Berlin, from July 4 to October 14, 2026. @aedesberlinWe will present one of our large-scale drawings, “Ideal City,” capturing the vibrant scenes of everyday life shaped by China‘s urbanization.Twenty-five years ago, Aedes presented TUMU , an exhibition that brought a generation of youngindependent Chinese architects to international attention for the first time. “A Structure of Feeling” builds on that legacy, turning its gaze towards a new generation working under changed conditions. Twelve projects by nine practices, alongside works by several artists, take up the transformation of existing urban fabric, rural development and new forms of spatial production. A period of unbridled expansion has given way to a more differentiated mode of building, with altered scales and demands. The title draws on Raymond Williams’ concept of the “structure of feeling”: a shared experience in the process of becoming, which resists straightforward description. The exhibition follows the traces of that shared experience, making them legible through concrete works — as a snapshot of shifting architectural practice.EXHIBITION TALK02.07.2026, 18:30EXHIBITION OPENING RECEPTION03.07.2026, 18:30EXHIBITION4 July - 14 October 2026 (closed 20– 28 August)#drawingarchitecturestudio #aedes #architectureexhibition #chinesearchitecture by @drawingarchitecturestudio

Generational ConditionsThe architects participating in the exhibition work outside China‘s state-owned design institutes and beyond the logic of property-driven mass production — whilst remaining entangled in both. International educational trajectories have broadened their perspectives; friction with the realities of building has shaped their practice.Three intertwined dimensions form the core of the exhibition: the urban, the economic-geographical and the epistemological. They point to a shared yet still unnamed condition: how can agency be gained within a system that has opened up without truly being open? What justifies building amid the entangled economies of city and countryside? How does architectural judgement develop in the absence of stable frames of reference? The works on show claim neither representativeness nor stylistic coherence. They mark the beginning of an investigation — a cross-section, not a panorama.A Structure of FeelingThe term, coined by cultural theorist and literary scholar Raymond Williams (1921–1988), denotes a social experience in the process of becoming — not yet conceptually fixed or ideologically solidified. The exhibition takes this condition as its starting point. It does not ask what Chinese architecture ought to be, but rather under what forces and within what contradictions it is currently taking shape — bound as it is to a specific economic, institutional, cultural and geographical field.@aedesberlin @atelier_alter_architects @genarchitects @fanhaomeng_lineplus @atelier_xuk @buro_ziyu_zhuang @studioqi_qiarchitects @yanfei_architects @peoplesarchitecture @dlatelier_china @drawingarchitecturestudio by @drawingarchitecturestudio

Our latest drawing, “Playful Wandering: Six-Panel Screen”, is now installed at the Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art @suzhoumoca , designed by BIG @big_builds .Commissioned by the museum, the drawing takes inspiration from both its architecture and the culture of Suzhou. Unfolding between representation and abstraction, it is composed of six vertical panels that draw on the folding structure of traditional screens and the continuous format of hanging scrolls, creating a sequence of spaces folding into one another.A spiraling path organizes the composition, echoing the spatial logic of the museum. Along the way, fragments of Suzhou—gardens, streets, objects, sounds, and everyday scenes—are woven into the drawing, turning the act of viewing into a kind of wandering through the city.A layer of geometric vinyl cut-outs is applied to the giclée print, enriching its texture and bringing together the precision of digital drawing and the tactility of handcraft.Photos courtesy of Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art.#drawingarchitecturestudio #suzhoumoca #architecturedrawing #architecturaldrawing by @drawingarchitecturestudio

Truly honored and grateful to receive the Graham Foundation grant @grahamfoundation for our exhibition project, “The Death and Life of an Apartment Building,” planned for fall 2027 at A83 @a83_inst in New York. 🙏❤️It gives us a valuable opportunity to revisit nearly 20 years of work on a single subject: how small business operators—from shopkeepers to street vendors—informally reshape China’s urban fabric through everyday, survival-driven spatial practices. This has evolved into an ongoing body of research and creative work across multiple representational forms. Also, a heartfelt thank you to A83 for their continued support. We very much look forward to this new collaboration! 🙌🤗#drawingarchitecturestudio #grahamfoundation #A83 by @drawingarchitecturestudio
