If a product or treatment promises to shrink your pores, proceed with skepticism.

Most of our patients want their neuromodulator to last longer, not wear off faster. But that’s exactly what Boey®, Allergan Aesthetics’ new botulinum toxin type E, is designed to do. Already approved in Canada and Europe, it can begin working in as little as eight hours, with effects typically lasting just two to three weeks.

That shorter window could make it an interesting option for someone who wants to try a neuromodulator for the first time without committing to months of results, wants results quickly before a last-minute event, or only needs temporary muscle relaxation around a surgical procedure.

We love filler for how incredibly versatile it is. When a skilled injector like Molly Katz, RN, is using it in the right patient, it can restore support in areas where volume has been lost, refine contours, and create better facial balance. But we also recognize its limitations. There are some things it just can’t do—and we’ll never overpromise or keep adding filler when a different treatment is the better answer.

It doesn’t take long to start seeing the payoff from eyelid surgery. This patient’s beautiful after photos were taken just one month after upper blepharoplasty and ptosis repair.

Upper blepharoplasty removed excess skin weighing down her upper lids, while ptosis repair corrected the drooping lid position caused by weakening of the muscle responsible for lifting the eyelid. One sign of ptosis is when the upper eyelid begins to hang lower than it should, sometimes covering part of the colored part of the eye (known as the iris) or black pupil.

Surgery is a commitment, but recovery from these procedures is often relatively quick compared with the difference they can make. If heavy or drooping lids are bothering you, schedule a consultation with Dr. Biesman to find the best solution.
