Emergency Medicine Doctor PSA: Brennekes Beach, known in the ER as “Break Neck Beach”Every year in the ER, we see several broken necks, noses & nonfatal drownings. Last week, in one day, we saw two teenagers with face trauma, one with a broken nose. Kauai is a Dangerous Disneyland. Looks really fun to go body surf & boogie board at places like Brennekes Beach. Without proper technique, we will see you in the ER. A few tips: Arch your back, keep your chest & chin up to keep the nose of the board from diving headfirst into the sand. A lot of tourists have their trip ruined from an activity they may have never done, don’t know how to do or haven’t done in 20 years. Make sure the waves are right for your experience level. Ask a lifeguard! Mermazing Maui Mother’s Day Junior State Finals Rodeo. Rodeo Families cheering on their kids together from 4 islands. Dreaming big & Reaching for the 💫 Lots of personal bests including Seaena who made it to the shortgo (3rd round) & seated 8th at the awards ceremony in barrels, poles & ribbon roping. Top 4 go to Nationals. So proud of her accomplishments on 3 borrowed horses from the kindness of a mother & daughter from Maui Coco & Lilly. We laughed with old friends & made new ones from other islands. We cheered the polo women’s league, meandered on the botanical gardens, dined at Westin. Grand Finale was the most beautiful card Seaena designed & wrote which brought me to tears. Sending love to all the amazing moms in the world.
