Now that I’ve had time to reflect, having @layahz_world with me in Washington, D.C. this week was special.

She’s never really known what I do because to her, I’m just Dad. But this week, she got to see some of the work, relationships, and sacrifices that have shaped my journey. More importantly, she got to see that she and Amari are a big part of why I work so hard.

She received advice from @bayoubullet first Black QB to win a Super Bowl , heard Dr. Martin Lemelle Jr. President of @grambling1901 speak to her about the importance of HBCUs, and even learned why Dad talks to “random people” after one of those conversations turned out to be with Jerry Reinsdorf “ Owner of the @chicagobulls on the elevator.”😂

But none of that compared to when she looked at me and said:

“You’re kinda cool, Dad.”

That made the whole trip for me. My heart is full. ❤️

Sometimes our children only know us as Mom or Dad. It was special letting her see a little more of who Dad is and realizing that so much of who I am is because of her and her brother. taken in Washington D. C. by @drbjfreemanjr

One year ago today, I officially became Dr. Freeman! 🎉

Title: Breakthroughs Not Barriers: African American Male Leadership Journeys to Executive Roles

The dissertation is published through the Library of Congress, and I’m also happy to share a copy with anyone who’s interested!

This work was personal for me.
It’s for my two kids. So they grow up knowing their starting point does not define their ceiling.

We build paths so others don’t have to ask for permission to walk them.

Happy Thanksgiving 🦃! I’ve had so much time to reflect and going forward no complaining or questioning….. just gratitude and thanks and recognizing how amazing God is and being able to have my little man here for the holiday to celebrate is a blessing! Great games this weekend! Layah had a monster game yesterday. Our theme was “ find ways to affect the game to make it easier for others around you it’s not always about howbmanybgoals you score” She took the challenge and rose to that occasion! She is special talent on and off the field.
