I wrote Good Energy because the metabolic health crisis is the biggest threat we face. And the answers are simpler than we are told. The tools to feeling better today are the SAME as how to prevent disease tomorrow. The biggest lie in healthcare is that type 2 diabetes, cancer, heart disease, dementia, Alzheimer’s, depression, arthritis, infertility and more are totally different diseases requiring separate doctors and pills for life. This siloing of chronic disease has been the costliest mistake in the history of modern medicine. The chronic diseases which account for 90% of health costs and 9 out of 10 deaths result from the SAME THING - dysfunction in our body’s fundamental ability to produce energy, which is caused by simple environmental features that have changed in just a century. And now it’s even affecting children because we aren’t waking up fast enough. We need a full revolution in seeing chronic disease is connected - and that revolution is happening from the bottoms up. Thank you @hubermanlab for summoning the important conversations around health empowerment - and diving into the topic of metabolic health deeper than anyone. I so admire and honor his unparalleled commitment to learning, curiosity, and sharing critical empowering information for free with the world. by @drcaseyskitchen

Oh to be American in 2025… where we spend twice as much on healthcare than ANY other country in the world… and meanwhile, life expectancy, on average, is DECLINING. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ And then, to buy into the idea that it’s not enough DRUGS or research funding that is the problem? 🤦🏼‍♀️ “if we just had more drugs! More scientists!” And then, call it pseudoscience to simply ask: what has *changed* in the last 100 years in our environment during the period where everyone is getting sicker? We are living in the greatest scam, the greatest charade, the greatest experiment in human history, where humans have fully become the matrix battery for a system of invisible chains of destruction for the sake of wealth. At its core, we are living in an experiment of man-made industrial chemicals and digital living that touches close to 9 billion people, and promises the “perks” of comfort, convenience, cheapness, pleasure, and entertainment. All for the low low cost of… life. Human life and planetary life. The only life in the known universe. Despite prescribing more drugs per person than any other country in the world (19 perscriptions per person per year 🤦‍♀️ ), we can’t even keep life expectancy *stable.*It is a sick delusion to think that drugs could even possibly be the answer to the cellular issues we’re dealing with right now. “Oh, a huge and growing percentage of the world is diabetic, obese, infertile, and depressed — it MUST be a lack of drugs and “science” and innovation!!!” No. No. No. It’s our disconnection from nature, from our true nature (as miracles), and each other. And not only is life expectancy declining, but health during those years of life is awful due to preventable chronic diseases. We need to re-think our approach and stop acting delusional. This issue 👇- Why the “longevity” conversation is missing the mark- The devil’s bargain that is continuing to shorten our life spans: How the food, chemical, and ag industries are designed to value profit over life- The root causes of our shortened lifespans, and why metabolic health is the key to fixing this🖇️ Read the newsletter link in my bio or www.caseymeans.com/newsletter by @drcaseyskitchen

Anxiety and depression are rampant in America right now, with around a third of the population reporting an anxiety disorder and over 20% of adults having a major depressive episode in their lifetime. On top of this, chronic fatigue and brain fog are on the rise, and are linked to inflammation in the brain (a process called neuroinflammation). Hoards of scientific studies have suggested that diet and gut health have a profound impact on our mental health outcomes through the “gut-brain axis” as well as by the way in which our gut lining can protect our bodies from system-wide inflammation that can then trigger symptoms in the brain. A healthy gut lining and diverse microbiome serves as a strong barrier that limits the “outside world” from being able to overwhelm our bodies and cause problems.@dr.robinrose reviewed and contributed to this newsletter. Dr. Rose is a double-board certified physician specializing in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. What’s in this issue 👇- An overview of the modern destroyed gut: How our modern world is destroying our guts, both the lining of the gastrointestinal tract and a healthy microbiome diversity- A deepdive into the science behind how gluten consumption (in conjuction with other factors) affects our mental health- 13 ways to support the microbiome and gut lining🖇️ Read the full newsletter at the link in my bio or www.caseymeans.com/newsletter—————————Newsletter sponsor: @lairdsuperfoodLaird Superfood makes it easy and convenient to make the small changes that add up. Every time I put something in our trash bin, I feel a pang of regret and disappointment in myself. Anything going into a landfill is stealing from the future. Most of what is in my trash is various forms of packaging from food, amazon packages, etc. Packaging is one of the most pervasive—and least discussed—threats to planetary and human health. It makes up nearly a third of global municipal solid waste and is almost always designed for one-time use. Imagine if we continue on this path of billions of people producing 5+ pounds of this waste every day: do you think it’s going to look pretty? 🌍️ No.I connected with a company innovating in this space to learn more about the sustainable packaging industry… how did it start? What is driving it? Is it really sustainable? What’s the catch? How does it impact the environment? I had a million questions and Dave Craggan from NatureFlex was kind enough to give me generous, transparent answers. I challenge all brands reading this to thing deeply about converting to sustainable packaging, and for consumers to start thinking about it. What’s in this issue 👇- My interview with Dave Craggan, Futamura’s Commercial Vice President of the Americas, to learn more about the sustainable packaging industry- An overview of the sustainable packaging space, its real-world impact, sourcing, and sustainability- A comparison to petroleum-based films in terms of performance and pricing- Existing barriers on adoption, plus my challenge to brands🖇️ Read the full newsletter by signing up through the link in my bio or www.caseymeans.com/newsletter—————————Newsletter sponsor: @livonlabs & @piquelifeLivOn is giving a VERY special offer to my community: Buy Lypo-Spheric® Glutathione and get Lypo-Spheric® B Complex Plus ($56 value) for FREE! Everyone loved the post on creatine, but this info is WAY MORE IMPORTANT! Read these 15 quotes. Internalize them. I don’t believe we can move towards true lasting progress in civilization if we’re not acting from a place of profound inner peace- and progress doesn’t mean more tech and money; it means higher consciousness. Enlightenment. A world of more love. Some might disagree and say that ANY means to a “good” end is worth it, even if it involves anger or worse. We fear that peace hurts our mojo or momentum. Anger and cortisol give us an “edge.” But perhaps the big secret is that peace actually saves us an immense amount of time. When we’re quiet enough that God just whispers the answers. And doesn’t it seem logical that there are almost no actions - even aggressive ones like hunting or politics - where being at inner peace, having a regulated nervous system, being in conversation with God, would not lead to a better outcome? It’s not mutually exclusive to action. I think it’s actually required for action that will make a lasting difference. Committing to doing the scientific + spiritual work of cultivating our own inner peace is the greatest gift we can give our families, friends, kids, and world. Our regulation impacts the universe- we ARE the universe. So how do we get there? One of the most studied ways is a regular meditation practice. Free. Simple. Effective. And yet, nearly impossible to commit to. The human condition is fascinating! I question for myself: do I want to reincarnate with similar challenges because I don’t learn the lessons in the lifetime and do the work to get closer to God? Or do I want to elevate and progress?🖇️ Get it at www.caseymeans.com/newsletter———Newsletter sponsor: @dailyharvestI have been a paying customer for 6+ years, and have often joked that I think at least 20% of the atoms in my body come from the Daily Harvest Cauliflower Rice + Pesto bowls and Blueberry + Hemp smoothies, which I adore and eat A LOT. 😀Daily Harvest has a 5 day Real Food Jumpstart Meal Plan that makes it so easy to build (and stick to!) new habits. I’ve been wanting to do a deep dive on creatine for a long time. Despite all the buzz, it’s not something I ever learned about in medical training (I don’t even mention it in Good Energy! 🤦‍♀️). But as someone endlessly curious about the human body and metabolism, I knew I had to go down the rabbit hole—and bring you with me. So here it is! Spoiler alert: creatine is a FASCINATING molecule, and perhaps the most misunderstood compound in health. 🤯What’s in this issue 👇- A deep dive into creatine, and its importance for not only muscle mass and strength, but as a core aspect of metabolic functioning- The sex-specific difference in creatine dynamics, and how it affects hormone health, pregnancy, and postpartum- Other areas of promising creatine research: brain health, depression, menopause, body composition- How to get enough creatine in your diet🖇️ Read the full newsletter by signing up at the link in my bio or www.caseymeans.com/newsletter—————————Newsletter sponsor: @live.momentousAs you can see from this newsletter, creatine is EXTREMELY important for both men and women’s health. My good friend @dailyharvest CEO @rickyjsilver wrote an op-ed on why investing in organic farming should be a top priority for a healthy America. It is unconscionable that we live in a world where you have to pay more for food that isn’t sprayed in invisible poison known to cause cancer, neurodegenerative disease, and death. I’m fed up with the excuses about why it’s too hard - I know dozens if not hundreds of organic and regenerative farmers who aren’t using these poisons and are producing nutrient rich food every year. I don’t buy non organic food, ever - it’s not that complicated. It’s not a hard choice because it’s based in a spiritual value of respecting the temple given to me by God: my body and Mother Earth. There are lots of inexpensive organic foods- frozen, bulk, direct from farm, etc. The reason there’s confusion about organic and why it is sometimes more expensive is because our government mass subsidizes these poisons in order to have strong financial relationships with their donors in Big Food and Agrochemical companies. Because of pressure from the multinational food and agrochemical companies who control our politicians with money (donations and lobbying), there becomes even more struggle for organic farmers due to bad policy that handicaps and restricts their freedom and growth. Which should make you scratch your head. Read Ricky’s article at the link in my bio. And eat organic food. by @drcaseyskitchen

DEMENTIA IS PREVENTABLE. 👇🏼Our minds are nothing short of miraculous. Each of us is the culmination of an almost impossible sequence of events—a cosmic lottery that resulted in each of our singular consciousnesses, at this moment exact in eternity. Each of our brains, with its ~100 billion neurons — around the same number as there are stars in our galaxy! — is able to take in a variety of inputs from light (visible, infrared, ultraviolet, etc), sound waves (audible + inaudible), electromagnetic fields, thermal energy, gravitational energy, chemical information (airborne scents, etc), mechanical energy (touch, pressure), quantum energies, and more – process it all – and then spit out a reaction that is experienced as our thoughts, feelings, movements, and actions. Our brains transform complex information constantly – in such an effortless and a-sensate way that we barely notice the miracle taking place… until it starts faltering. What’s in this issue 👇- The current statistics on diseases of the brain/mind (Everything is going UP 📈)- Dementia prevention, and 14 of the modifiable risk factors for development of Alzheimer’s - An overview of @drdalebredesen’s ReCODE program, including the 13 elements in his mind-supporting protocol- Plus, other resources related to Alzheimer’s and cognitive decline🖇️ Read the full newsletter at the link in my bio or www.caseymeans.com/newsletter—————————Newsletter sponsor: @functionhealthFunction Health provides a 360° picture of your health based on 100+ blood biomarkers, enabling you to be mega-empowered in your health journey, monitor thousands of conditions early, and track progress over time. I think a Function membership is the very best way to get a comprehensive picture of your health, and an incredible gift for a loved one.
