A love story 🌴
I decided to leave the military ~10 years ago to sow into a community and get rooted into its core. It happened to be Pacific Palisades. Before January 7th 2025, we were well aware of how special our home was. And we were often reminded by others outside of the Malibu/Palisades communities with comments like “…that’s my favorite part of LA…it’s my dream to live over there…there’s no other place in the whole world like the Palisades…”

When @lindseyphorvath recognized some of us for our efforts in honor of Women’s History Month, it highlighted how strong our communities have always been. I am inspired by how everyone is soldiering through the devastation.

We are devastated that our practice building at 881 Alma Real has been destroyed by the Palisades Fire.

As we sit in this tragic chapter, and navigate the stages of grief with our community, we are already in the process of rebuilding. The Palisades Dentists exists not because of a building, but because of a community that is at the center of our heart and patients who are our bloodline. This team. And a whole lot of LOVE.

There is no place in all of LA, or the entire world, quite like Pacific Palisades. Our prayers are with those who lost loved ones in this tragedy, and with our patient families who have lost homes and livelihoods, and with the brave firefighters and first responders.

We look back at the loss of our community with utter heartbreak and devastation…and look forward to the future with faith and hope 🤍
✨✨We are currently operating at our temporary space in the Brentwood Medical Plaza, and in the final stages of rebuilding a glorious new office in the Palisades - across the street from @palisadesvillage ✨✨

3 generations of serving this country & chasing dreams🇺🇸

Dad was one of thousands of Filipino sailors who enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a result of the 1947 Military Bases Agreement. While @charmela @mrscicijohnson and I fondly remember the Christmas parties on the carrier and camping trips with other military families, Mom & Dad faced tremendous challenges… racism to the point where Dad wanted to drop out (in 1970’s America, many didn’t want a bunch of asians in their military), typical immigrant struggles, and even logistics (their original chit request to even get married got denied).

As a child, I vividly remember a woman making fun of Dad *to his face, with his family in the car* because he had an accent. I wanted to yell “my Dad served this country for 20 years!! What have YOU done with your life?!” No matter what Mom and Dad faced they showed us how to live faithfully & fearlessly…and to work your a** off and take the high road while you’re at it. (Although I may say some words along the way 😊😂) Their sacrifices and hard work embodied the American Dream so the succeeding generations could pursue their dreams.

When we got engaged, we overlooked LA and @theonlymc proclaimed “I want to raise a family with you and make an impact on this city.” You were the answer to prayers I didn’t even know I had, and I’m so glad that God’s plans are always greater than our own. I am in awe of the life that we get to create together.
