I take pics of spawning fish underwater and jumping fish above water using a long pole. Bull trout, big rainbows, cutthroats, kokanee and brook trout.

Underwater spawning action of a colorful pair of bull trout. A quick redd clean, male mouth snap and male quivering next to female. I usually do not see the quiver from the front of the fish. There is still a lot more action to come as the water has warmed up and most of the bulls are hiding in the deep hole waiting for water to get back below 50 degrees.

Here is a series of underwater videos of kokanee spawning. The first one is a male kokanee doing the shaking they do to stimulate female to lay her eggs. She wanted to have nothing to do with him and swam away. Other videos of kokanee yawning, fighting, cleaning redd and a rotting kokanee. Kokanee is a salmon, so they dye after spawning. #kokanne, #spawning, #underwaterphotography by @drchinn55

This is slowed way down so you can see the bull trout eggs bounce as the male bull stir them up by their chase. Usually do not see this will the bulls because the eggs drop between bigger rocks but this year there is smaller gravel. Also there was so many bulls this year that there is alot of eggs. Hopefully you can see this on a small phone screen. The eggs are easy to see on my laptop screen.

The road is open just in time. Here is a bull cleaning the redd and also a kokanee cleaning its redd. The spawning area in the main pool is one big redd. I am not sure how many fish are left. I saw about 2 dozen fish hidden in the rocks.

Here is two views of bull trout shaking their heads. The second view the bull has a spoon in it mouth. The next time I went to the pool I did not see any fish with spoons so hopefully it shook the spoon. The spoon fisherman was using barbless hooks.

I have been looking for this shot for 10 years. It is a male kokanee releasing its milt(sperm). Took many hours and eye strain to finally see it. It is one of 3 one of a kind videos of mine. The other two are a video of a Brooke trout dropping an egg and the other of an American Dipper grabbing an egg from the rocks and lifting it to the surface.

Here is a pale colored fish that I think is a cutthroat. Have never seen one so pale colored. There is two or three of these pale fish in the pool.

I just got a new gopro mission pro. It is supposed to be better in the dark. I am pleased with the results. With old gopro all you would see in this dark area would be white ghost with a blurry shape of a fish.

Here is a series of several fish with hooks in mouth or on body. I usually only see one or two fish with a hook in any given year. I have actually seen less fishermen than normal. I think the issue is there are so many more fish this year that they are easier to hook.

The redfish are just starting to migrate. My grandkids favorite fish that I film. These are kokanee, a fresh water salmon. By next week there will be thousands. Today I saw only 10. This is the fall run of kokanee. There is also a winter run that is mostly on lake shorelines.
