We’ve prioritised mending what we have before buying new things, and always trying to source second hand. Proving that we don’t need the latest new item to get outdoors and explore.

Stage 10: Cascais to Lisboa
The final stage
A beautiful route along the coast to our final stop in Lisboa, and a few days to rest and enjoy, stroll, eat, and drink wine in a cute square.
Dinner and packing up the bikes in the hotel parking lot to finish the trip.
Around 530km in total, around 4,360m of elevation, down the beautiful coast of Portugal. Thanks to Harry for being a wonderful tour guide and navigating our whole way. taken in Lisboa, Portugal by @drdaniellanolan

Stage 9: Praia das Maçãs to Cascais
Another gorgeous beachside stop. One last surf for Harry. A super cute bar on the beach, where we could watch waves break on the wall while snacking on a pizza (@temper.pt). Detour to the western-most point of Portugal, and Europe taken in Cascais, Portugal by @drdaniellanolan

Stage 8: Ericeria to Praia das Maçãs
A smaller leg, along the coast to another lovely little seaside town. Fog rolling in at sunset. A day trip on the historic tram up to Sintra, then exploring the Palace de Pena and its lovely, misty gardens taken in Sintra, Portugal by @drdaniellanolan

Stage 7: Peniche to Ericeria
69kms with 900m elevation.
This was a hard stage. Started in the fog, spent progressively more time walking my bike up the hills than riding up. Had a cry. Rode along broad walks in the sand. Stunning cliffs and Atlantic Ocean views as we got further south. Arrived in beautiful Ericeria, stayed for a few day break! Much time spend reading between the hammock and the beach. Many good surfs for Harry. Shared meals with lovely people at the accom. A free (enormous) box of pastel de nata from the bakery around the corner (who were voted 2nd best in the country today) taken in Ericeira, Portugal by @drdaniellanolan

Stage 6: Foz do Arelho to Peniche
54km and 595m elevation.
Started the day cycling within the Atlantic sea fog, ventured inland to the medieval town of Óbidos. Fantastic coffee and breakfast, with beefsteak tomato salad and fresh focaccia at @puco.obidos. Around the lagoon filled with pelicans and a few herons, then back through the fog towards Peniche. taken in Óbidos, Portugal by @drdaniellanolan

Stage 5: Pedro de Moel to Foz do Arelho
55km along beautiful coastline, passing throrgh Nazaré. Beginning of the hills with 608m elevation. A glittering ocean, colourful houses, including little ones for the local cats. Face of zinc going strong. A detour due to a wildfire. Another pool at the campsite taken in Foz do Arelho by @drdaniellanolan

Stage 4: Figuerua da Foz to São Pedro de Moel
67km
It was hootttttt (too hot to ride tbh) ☀️
Through sand dunes, and along the ocean path.
Lunch on the beach, with a cute cat that curled up on our laps
