To the Illustrious Delaware State University:
The past decade+ at Delaware State University has been the most challenging, stretching, and transformative years of my life. From earning my Bachelor’s in Mass Communications (2017), to my Master’s in Public Administration (2021), and now my Doctorate in Educational Leadership in Higher Education (2026)… this journey has been anything but easy. I spent this time chasing a dream that at one point felt untamable. Life pushed me to limits I never imagined I’d have to endure. There were moments where this journey felt like an endless roller coaster with no finish line.
Thank you for becoming my home away from home. From a young troubled 18 year old freshman from Washington DC trying to find his way to now walking across the stage as Dr. Neal, you have shaped, stretched, and refined me into the man and professional I am today. Through every role I’ve held:

Galatians 6:9 ✨
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

These past 4 years have been the most challenging and transformative years of my life. Behind every accomplishment were nights filled with exhaustion, doubt, sacrifice, prayers, and moments where I questioned if I’d make it through. But through every setback and delay, God reminded me that purpose requires perseverance.🙏🏾💚

First, I thank God for carrying me through every battle and never losing faith in me, even when I lost faith in myself.

To my Mother — thank you for being my rock, my safe place, and my greatest supporter. Everything I am is rooted in your love, sacrifices, and lessons.🤞🏾💚

To my Father — thank you for being the role model I needed and helping shape me into the man I am today. Stepdad has never existed in my vocabulary… you are my Dad.🤞🏾💚

To my siblings — thank you for loving, encouraging, and reminding me who I was whenever life tried to make me forget. I love y’all endlessly.🤞🏾💚

To my Best Friends — thank you for becoming family away from home, carrying me through dark moments, and never allowing me to isolate myself. Your love never went unnoticed.🤞🏾💚

This degree is for US. Every sacrifice, prayer, setback, and person who believed in me before I fully believed in myself.💚

Today, I’m honored to say I am officially the first Doctor in my family and proud to join the Black Male Doctors of the USA.🥳

Flooded in tears all over again, as if I didn’t already know this moment was on the way. By far my greatest accomplishment in life thus far, and it still feels so surreal.
My life, this year, and this summer have been nothing short of amazing, and receiving this in the mail today was the perfect addition.
After days of celebrating and having company at my home, I finally got some time to myself to reset, and this moment felt so intimate. I wanted to share it with my loved ones.
Thank you for always pouring into me and supporting me. I only pray my work continues to change lives for decades to come.
Cheers to every blessing that’s yet to come. ✨🥳💚

They said all I did was party.😂
& That’s what’s wrong with society now. You really have to put that phone down & tune into all the other things life has to offer.
I allow social media to see a glimpse of my life, but the public eye wouldn’t know the half.

They don’t know about the trips I took to the library, the trips to Barnes & nobles, the trips to my professors offices, the late nights studying & working in my office, the all nighters, the late night drives or walks crying my eyes out because I was overwhelmed with life while trying to still accomplish a precious goal.
You never truly know the next persons story.

I am so much more than what you see on social media, but it’s not my job to prove anything to you.
I AM HIMMM. & I’ve proven that to myself over and over again.
Shoutout to the REAL for always holding me down. We up forever.
Wait til you see what I do next.😉🤗

To MY Village (&this is a very small percentage of those I was able to capture from graduation day, because my village is HUGE)🤞🏾🥹🤧💚💚💚

As cliche as it is, it really does take a village to do this life man, like honestly. I am forever grateful and honored to have so many people stand beside me in all that I do in life.🥹

When I say: THIS IS OUR DEGREE, I mean that from the very bottom of my heart because I literally would not have made it to this moment without the help, love, guidance, and support of each of you and so many others.🤞🏾

Each of you have poured into me more than I could ask for or even want to in moments. Thank you for never leaving me alone (even in my most stubborn moments). In my darkest days, you all made sure I knew that there was always a light at the end of the tunnel. From sitting on the phone with me listening to me cry about everything going wrong, my long message rants, my many panic attacks, pulling up to my house to make sure I didn’t sit in whatever was going on, helping with my business, taking care of my house, creating bonds with the people’s dearest to my heart (especially my immediate family), making sure I remembered who I was in my lowest moments, sending me money, buying me food, sending me to the spa, getting me out of bed to be active, watching me lose my mind (DAYS BEFORE GRADUATION & Graduation Day🫠) even just coming to sit with me as I cried…. Like I could go on & on man but I truly THANK YOU for EVERYTHING. I could not ask for a better support system.

I pray that life continues to bless me 100x times over so that I can continue to pour into all of you as you do for me in every aspect of my life. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for each and every one of you.

Cheers to US getting our Doctorate & for every blessing that will come upon us. No matter what happens in life I pray we continue to navigate and hold each other down.🤞🏾✨💚💚💚

To my MAMA…🥹🤧💚💚💚
All that I am is quite literally thank to you @nmyzonecrafting . Everything you’ve taught me, everything you’ve instilled in me. Words really don’t begin to describe how thankful I am for you. From the 16 year old girl scared trying to figure out how to raise a kid on her own to now flourishing in life when they said your life would be ruined being a teen mom. I literally always brag about how you were the BEST mom I could ever ask for because you didn’t allow past trauma or your circumstances to navigate or shape your life and who you would be as a mom to all your handsome sons.🤗 This degree is literally yours just as much as it is mine as you have literally stood by my side through every trial & tribulation. In moments where I felt like I disappointed you making bad decisions you never left my side. You disciplined me and made sure that I understood that there was always consequences for any bad decision. But you also held my hand through each situation to ensure that I never felt defeated or alone. We have experienced so much in life together in my 31 years of life thus far and I really couldn’t image getting through so many moments without you. Thank you for always being MY NUMBER 1, My Rock, My Biggest Supporter, My Toughest Solider, My FAVORITE DESIGNER (YES MY MAMA MADE BOTH OUR GRADUATION FITS💅🏾✨), Always down with all my shenanigans😂🤞🏾. Life has taught me that it’s not about the materials at all but I pray that I continue to succeed in life & make sure that there’s nothing you’ll need or want in this life. I’m working on retiring you ASAP so you can live whatever life you want to live doing whatever you want to do. Thank you FOR EVERYTHING Queen. I love you in this life & every life to come. A smile worth a thousand testimonies.🥰🥹

Just reflecting on how far I’ve come in life thus far. I have such a significant story that most have no clue of. From being in a gang, being detained multiple times, to almost dropping out of high school but getting my life together & deciding to attend college & exceed everyone’s expectations including myself.🥹 From the classroom to the community, I’ve always made sure to show up with purpose, help where I can, and pour into others along the way as so many have poured into me.

None of this came easy at all. BUT every lesson, setback, prayer, and sacrifice was worth it. I’m grateful for every person who’s supported me, believed in me, and grew with me throughout this journey.
I’ve experienced so many lows (things I’d never imagine I’d have to endure).🤧
With each low, I took it with a grain of salt & continued to push through with my head held high.

Still teaching. Still serving. Still growing.
And most importantly… still smiling through it all.🤗

Every setback, every lesson, every late night, and every sacrifice helped shape this chapter. What started as a dream bigger than my circumstances became purpose, discipline, and faith in motion. I’m walking into this season with gratitude for where I come from and confidence in where I’m headed.
This isn’t just about earning another degree. It’s about representation, legacy, and showing others that your environment does not limit your destiny. The journey continues… and the best is still ahead. 🖤📚

Never let anyone tell you that you can’t do anything you put your mind to. Lock in and show them better than you can tell them.🤞🏾🎓
