Wow @bergfootball took down the mighty Mount Union for the first time since 1988 to put in perspective, my brother graduated in 1992 and he was only a freshman in college. The last time they beat Mount union. Never beat them the whole time I was there. Congratulations! @heidelbergu by @drdldavis

Officially “an adult”?? 😆 oh, you officially have two full-fledged adults.
But I hope @torrance.danielle doesn’t completely grow up! This has been a year of growth, transition, change, and I believe a big year on the way for you! We are all proud of your resilience, kind, heart, determination, and giving spirit. The bestest friend that her friends can have. A wonderful sister, a supportive daughter, and a cool cat on top of it all lol I’m excited to see what this year brings for you buddy. I hope that you are celebrating well this weekend. Last night was just a start. I am sure 🙂 everybody, please join me and wishing happy birthday to Torrance!!

Back where it all started. That June day when @jackieandduane and I stored at this very spot and stared at the ocean for over an hour. We first came to this beautiful place. We call home. The same place where three years ago next week, we had a memorial service that kicked off with a rainbow across the ocean. It was nice to see what I do every year. Wow, reminisce, and think. NINE YEARS!! Nine years ago this boy was born that showed up at a Walmart gas station poking his head out of a hoodie with Jimmy Davidson. This began one of the best decisions we ever made. SAMMY has brought laughs, cuddles, joy, love, and so much to Jackie and to all of us. And, without him, there would be no Perdi, Archie, or Penny Sue! (Or Hazel or Gidget)

Thats a wrap on #SZN23 and #WESSZNFive. This year has been a challenging year. But, I come out overall very happy. I completed Georgetown County school district’s first leadership Academy cohort. I expanded by skill set in doing choreography with our third grade musical. I got the piano lab in my classroom back up and running! This means lots of golden opportunities on their way for my kiddos next year. Ending the year with some changes for the future here, bittersweet. But, one certainty in life is that things are always changing. #shepersistedsoipersist ! Go to what’s gonna be a short, fun, busy, and unique summer break! Thank you to the Waccamaw family for your continuous support and the opportunity to be here on the island. I don’t take it for granted ! Last day of school??! my last day ended perfectly. I got mopped by the third graders, getting ready to go to their cars. I got mopped by 20 to 40 3rd graders at once for a group hug and then they wanted me to autograph their arms🤣🤣🤣
THIS is why we do this!! Not only did they learn, but we had a great relationship.
Someone who is a dear colleague and friend of mine here said it best. Teaching is about relationships first.

“ she died on the way here, but we got her”
19 years ago this weekend, I was told that at Kosair (Norton) children’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
@jackieandduane was still hospitalized an hour away, the girls are family back at the house. Said a word no parent wants to hear.
All those years later, look how far she’s come! Overcoming health adversities, other adversities, and even impaling herself with deck railing right as the first wave of COVID-19 began 😉🤣.
She’s exploring a potential big step to her future. Owning her first car, living on her own with Porter, and starting her own life! I am so proud. I am so thankful for the smiles, laughter, presence, and love that My Sophie bug still gives me to this day!
And to think you’ve only just begun! I am glad to say that I was the first to sing, and now hopefully the first to say happy birthday to the amazing, beautiful, energetic, and determined @sophie.kay17
