An exceptionally special “Got your book!” note. 🥹🥹🥹

Barely talking, but a good example of what goes in, comes out 😅 Our kids are being wired from day 1. Good reading on a very important topic, my little friend 😉😉❤️❤️

I’m proud of “Bugs in my Belly”. It was number 1. But I must say, I LOOOOVE #2 : “Bits in your Brain” 🧠. The colours. The art. The message.

Both available on Amazon, but also Wateretone’s, Indigo, Chapters, etc., etc., when requested. So if you are looking to support outside Amazon, all you have to do is request it at your local book store as it is internationally available through the IngramSpark data base 💥

Now, can you guess what number 3 is…? taken in Vancouver, British Columbia by @drdmarr

I hate to say it, but for some 🌎 (many 😅), the end of summer blues is approaching… the high of summer vacation starts to come down - just like any post vacation blues… and you will adjust, as you always do ☺️☺️. But it’s a great opportunity to chat with your kids about taking care of their happiness - the bits in their brains that help them remain calm and content, what creates those high and lows, what we should expect, and how we make sure we “take care” of them. 💛🧡💛

#BitsinyourBrain is the perfect starting point for these types of conversations with little ones! ☀️ 🌞

If you are making a big change that feels like you are changing your whole identity, consider this:

The other day I thought, maybe we make big changes feel so hard because we look at it as if we are changing our entire identity. But what if we’re not changing AT ALL?? What if we are simply shifting the way we express ourselves at this time in our lives. There are so many different interests packed up inside of us, we can’t “be” them all at once, but they are still inside of us.

Is it really a “change” if it’s been inside of us all along? I’m not changing “who” I am at all, just the way im choosing to express myself and my interests at this time in my life.

Would it be as hard if we looked at it that way?

We aren’t put in this earth to live in a box.
We are put on this earth to experience life and living in all the ways possible. You SHOULD be able to freely express yourself in all the ways, not just one. It doesn’t always mean you have changed, it just means you have shifted your energy and focus to another one of your interests and good 👏🏼 for 👏🏼 you 👏🏼. If you want to, you should.

“Pick a lane” = less experience. Boring.
Do the things. Do all the things and live with no regrets.

(If you want to become a guru, and known for one very specific thing, then yes, “pick a lane” and commit some time to it, but don’t feel bad if you have other interests ALSO. It doesn’t mean YOU have changed, it can also mean you just choose to focus on other things that interest you and fill you up.

That will be a marker of a fulfilled life.
No regrets. Do it all.

(My current focus on writing is not a change at all. I just haven’t been able to express it the way I’ve wanted to until now… but I’m not really changing anything. I’m still a life coach, I’m still a mom, but what I choose to share out loud may look like a different focus. I am always coaching, that remains the same :) But I’m excited exploring this world of being an author, and so my attention is going to go that direction a bit… it doesn’t mean I have changed at all…)

I’m looking specifically for one photo - bat dog. His profile waiting in my 2nd floor condo window for me, every time I got home, and here in Zim, after school drop off, his little bat dog ears waiting for me in the back seat to come back to the car, everytime with excitement like he hadn’t seen me in years 😂 #everytime

I didn’t find the picture yet, but I found these. So expect more until I do 😅

We listened to a lot of Collie Buddz together, a Bermudian artist, and I love these lyrics. I think what has helped make this transition without Bambo in our day to day life more bearable, has been giving attention to all parts of our lives. Yes, “Bambo was my whole life”, but also, he wasn’t. We’ve had many parts of our lives (skiing, travel, sports, etc) where our little “shadow” wasn’t able to follow us around, and I think that makes life a bit more do-able.

When you make your entire identity about one thing and that thing is suddenly taken away, (ie. your job, your kids, your sport, etc) it’s going to hurt like hell. It’s those times you need to lean on the other parts of your life that help keep you YOU. 🖤

How many parts of you are there?

There are a lot of new grads out there right now. Floating in the space between high school and uni - or going from high school right into adulthood. If you know one, if you have one, this perspective could be a huge advantage.

If I could go back to high school and learn ONE thing, it would be this:

The ability to clearly see how my own mindset was going to help me attain my goals or hold me back, even cause some of my own suffering. Because little did I know, THAT was what was going to dictate the next 15 years of my life. Not something most of us were thinking about at that age, but our perception of happiness, success, and fulfillment, were going to be dictated not by our diplomas or degrees, but by our mindset.

But how do we teach this in a tangible way?

Ah - the Energy Leadership Index. When in career transition (and changing many other things in my life at the same time), I had a session with a coach that changed a lot for me. I did this assessment and thought, “I wish I learned how to think this way in high school. Why weren’t we taught stuff like this?”

The way my brain thought about things at the time pigeon holed me into a career that then allowed me to walk myself right into victim mindset, where I spent most of my 20’s, and early 30’s. #ouch

Let me rephrase that.

The way I was thinking (my own thoughts), were what were causing me to suffer. But I wasn’t able to see it - because I didn’t have the tools to. So I spent a lot of time “blaming” the world…

I didn’t know better, because I was never TAUGHT how to think differently. I was never taught about mindset, what it was, and that it could be changed.

Again, there are a lot of new graduates out there right now… if you know one, if you want to give them a leg up in how they think about their goals and their future, reach out, and I can explain more (and offer 25% of assessment for new grads).

(I learned this year that you don’t graduate high school in the UK - only university. So - no graduation ceremony at the end if high school. Did you know that? Anyway, “grads” includes the high school non-grad grads, too 😆)

I help people take massively responsibility for their narrative (their inner voice… the way they speak to themselves).

Many people ask what my tattoo is for.

Hi 👋🏻, I talk a a lot 🙋🏼‍♀️. And no, it’s not for that. Not much I can do about that, it’s just how I am 😆 #noshame

“Shhh…” is a more polite way of saying “shut up”, to negative self talk. We see our hands a lot… figured it was a good place for it. Better than tattooing “shut up” on my body 😆?

I used to be SO hard on myself - which I do give credit for all I have accomplished, but like everything, we need balance, and sometimes, it’s too much. Sometimes we need to give ourselves grace. So when “tough love” self talk becomes a toxic relationship, we shut it down.

Unfortunately, it takes massive self awareness to do this.

(Fortunately, I have an incredible tool to help do that.)

It changed my world. If you are interested, we go through it in one session. (It was the single most impactful coaching session of my life when I did it.)

(Hi, Bambo. I miss you dearly, my boy. You are the world’s greatest.)

My first book was published at the end of 2023. One reason I hesitated to start an author page on social media was because after the first post, ( “Hey, look! I published a book! You should buy it!”), is the message going to be any different? Won’t that be annoying? 😅

“Oh, hi again! Remember that book - still published…”

“Me again… Did you buy it yet?” 😂

I mean, you are either going to need it or not right? But not necessarily. The right time for my books are many.

Maybe it’s NOT right now when you see this post, and you scroll on by.

Maybe it’s in 3 months when you need a book for a gift, or new reading material for your kids, your grandkids, your friends kids, your classroom, maybe you have new interests… so there is THAT (timing)!

But also, one of the reasons I finally decided to launch this page is to share some of the journey to publishing and tying the experience all together. There is so much that goes into having an idea, writing a story, bringing it to life, marketing, advertising, balancing life and building a career… (Letting people watch you build a dream hopefully encourages them to build theirs, as well. 💫 ♥️)

A friend said, “Hey, I like your new page. It’s cool to see a little bit about the process and behind the scenes. It’s interesting! People get to know the author and see that you are a real person.”

So that’s why I am here, but also, because I’m going to keep going. I’m in it for the long haul. On top of travel, kids, running, and coaching (@drdmarr ), this is an important part of my life, so I may as well start building it up!

Seeing other authors’ journeys so far has been very motivating. Very positive so far. So many great tips and insights. May it stay that way 😆

How old were you the first time you learned that you have billions of bacteria living in your body? And that this is a good thing… (so long as you’re feeding the good ones…)

And how old were you when you learned that you have influence on the tiny “bits” in your brain that make you happy? Still learning, maybe? It’s never too late… but do you ever wonder why we don’t learn about these things earlier in life? We can. And we should ☺️ 🐛 🧠

#yourbodyisyourtemple isn’t just a cheesy saying. It’s the truth. It’s your home. Take care of it.

👋🏻 A little bit about me, how I brought the kids mini series stuck in my head to life, and a little insight into my next series that I can’t wait to get down on paper! ✈️ 🌎

If you see the time stamps on my notes, you will see the effort it took to make this post, between school drop off, dentist appointments, sports pick up and drop off, and work calls - an all day effort 😆

My poor clients, ha!

More than a few have said this to me 😆

Of everyone who has called me out directly, not one of them was someone I thought of specifically when I posted 😆 (promise 😉).

The only person I was thinking of when I re-posted those… an old version of myself. Usually those posts still resonate with me SO much because it was such a huge part of what kept me stuck and what I HAD to overcome to move past it. Unavoidable, unforgettable life experiences.

So if you are feeling called out, it’s a good sign. Something hit a nerve.

When you feel you are being called out, know you are in the right place. Usually what I post is what I coach, and I enjoy coaching what I have been through. (I also coach a lot of what I haven’t been through, but the passion is with experiences you can relate to, for sure.)

Feeling stuck in a relationship that is unfulfilling…did that.

Feeling stuck in a life or career that isn’t making you happy… did that.

Burnt out…yep.

Doing all the “shoulds” (miserable - also, led to the burn out.)

Leaning on excuses for why everything wasn’t working out…

Wanting to change your life but not knowing where to start. Just feeling so stuck…

So much of what I post isn’t relevant to my life NOW. It’s the shit I had to *work through, to get to where I am now.

Key word: *work. It takes work. If you don’t work through it, it will stay the same. (Work is not easy. Easy usually means you aren’t doing anything differently.)

If you feel called out, it’s just a reminder that you aren’t alone on those feelings. Chances are many people are going through similar struggles - a part of the human experience.

It’s a reminder that a large number of people make it through to the other side… but also, a large number of people won’t. They will default to staying the same because it takes calling yourself out, and many people won’t.

I know how to call myself out on each and every step, easily and specifically, and it’s the IPEC model (that I teach) that allows me to do this very clearly.

Can cover the basics in 1-4 sessions

Get a grasp on the main concepts in about 6.
