The most beautiful villages in Mallorca part 1!🌼
.
One of the best things you can do in Mallorca is explore some of the many charming villages on the island. In this post I bring you Sóller (photos 1-5) and Port de Sóller (photos 5-8).
.
Why come here?
🌺 Charming streets
🌿 Relaxed atmosphere
👀 Beautiful views
🦐 Local cuisine
🛍 Artisan boutique shops
🏖 Beaches and swimming (in Port de Sóller)
.
💡Pro tip!
You can get the vintage tram from Sóller to Port de Sóller which takes approximately 20mins and enjoy a very unique experience. The views of Sierra de Tramontana, and orange and lemon groves along the way are spectacular!🍋🍊
.
Have you visited either of these places?

Could this be the dreamiest view in Mallorca?✨️
.
If I wanted to organise a wedding vows renewal (and wouldn't mind splurging a bit), this place in Mallorca would definitely be on my radar. Wedding brands and magazines come here to shoot their campaigns and it's no surprise. This spot is so romantic!
.
You don't need to organise a wedding here to visit though. It's open to public every day except Sundays.

A trip that started as an accident!✨️
.
I had already done tons od research on hiking volcanoes, exploring what looks like a tropical rain forest or star gazing at one of the most important observatories in the world, when I realised that TWO seemingly insignificant letters actually make all the difference! And so instead of travelling to La Palma in the Canary islands, we booked a trip to Palma (Mallorca) instead. Classic mistake, as I've been told.
.
Initial reaction - disbelief. Later followed by a bit of disappointment (we had already been to Mallorca in 2021) but finally, I accepted this new reality and started planning what turned out to be 5 epic days on the island. We revisited places we love (like the one in these photos) and discovered new gems. The result? No regrets! Just immense gratitude for having experienced the incredible beauty of Mallorca once more!
.
Have you ever booked a trip to the wrong destination?

I won't lie - I love exploring popular tourist sights. I don't think they're not worth it - quite the opposite. They are famous for a reason!
.
But for me the perfect trip must also include places which don't make all the bucket lists or appear in viral reels.
.
Hidden gems will always be my great passion. And if you're like me, I can't recommend the south of France enough. I'm not talking about the French Riviera though. I'm talking about regions like Dordogne, Lot or Aveyron where fairytales come to life in the most unexpected and magical way!✨️
.
What's your favourite hidden gem you've discovered recently?

The best viewpoints in Albi!
.
If Albi has something, it's definitely the views and there are several places from which you can get postcard views of the river, the bridges and other important sights. These 3 are my favourite:
.
1. Berbie Palace and especially its gardens
You can pay admission to the palace and its beautiful gardens (which I'd totally recommend) but there's also a free viewpoint from which you get a glimpse of the gardens, the river and the town.
.
2. Pont Vieux
Go down by the river side and you'll be able to capture the old bridge from close distance with the pastel buildings in the background.
.
3. Pont Neuf
From here you can see the old bridge and also the cathedral!
.
How do you like these views of Albi?

Discover Saint Émilion a bit differently!🍇
.
Saint Émilion is surrounded by the most picturesque vineyards and fairytale chateaux, so much so that it literally looks like taken out of a story book. The best way to explore the area and discover hidden gems is by hiring bikes. Here's some useful info:
.
🚲 You can get the bikes at Les Bicyclettes de Saint-Emilion, located inside the beautiful Cloître des Cordeliers.
.
⌛️ Time slots: morning (10:30 - 14:00), afternoon (14:30 - 18:00) or full day (1, 2 or 3 days).
.
💸 Price: half day - 30€, full day - 40€, 2 days - 70€ or 3 days - 100€.
.
🗺 You are provided with a helmet and a safety vest. They also have different kind of routes you can simply follow with the GPS on your phone (it's recommended to have it fully charged) and you can choose from different route lenghts.

Welcome to the village of 'Beauty and the Beast'!🥀
.
Not that this is an official title, but don't you think that Conques looks very similar to Belle's village in the beloved Disney fairytale? Comparisons aside, Conques is actually a very interesting place and I have picked a few facts about it that you will definitely find interesting!
.
The relics
In the 9th century, a monk brought the relics of Saint Foy to Conques. The village quickly became one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in medieval Europe. Without those relics, Conques might have remained a small, forgotten settlement.
.
2. Hidden treasure
The village's most famous treasure is the Reliquary of Saint Foy. Covered in gold, gemstones, and precious offerings collected over centuries, it's considered one of the finest surviving medieval reliquaries in Europe.
.
3. Millions of footsteps
Conques sits on one of the main routes to Santiago de Compostela. For centuries, pilgrims crossed mountains and valleys to reach the village before continuing their journey across Europe.
.
4. Medieval vs modern
The abbey church may look completely medieval from the outside. But its stained-glass windows were designed in the 1990s by Pierre Soulages, creating a surprisingly modern contrast inside.
.
5. Don't miss the entrance
Before stepping inside the church, look above the main doorway. The enormous Last Judgment sculpture (photo 1) contains over a hundred carved figures, showing heaven, hell, and the fate awaiting souls after death.
.
Will Conques be on your next itinerary?

Postcards from Belcastel!🇫🇷
.
In my first post from this place I showed you the old medieval bridge and church (photo 2), so today it's the turn of the most famous landmark, which also got the village its name. Belcastel literally means 'beautiful castle'🏰 and I think that this name is absolutely perfect!
.
Do you agree?

"I have ceased to desire elsewhere."
.
🎨 Those are the words of the famous French surrealist, André Bretón, about Saint Cirq Lapopie after his first visit in 1950. He later bought a house there and spent many summers returning to the village.
.
🕊 Another interesting fact is the that the village had its own "bird industry". One of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie's most unusual trades was the crafting of decorative objects from bird feathers. Local artisans were particularly known for featherwork and woodturning.
.
🏚 And lastly, did you know that Saint Cirq Lapopie was almost abandoned? Like many rural villages in France, it experienced a long period of decline. Artists, writers, and preservation efforts helped save it from fading away.
.
Can you imagine losing such a beautiful medieval gem?
