Making the most of every angle. ✨

Sloped ceilings and an unconventional layout could have been limitations in this bedroom. Instead, they became part of the design.

Taking the wallpaper across the walls and ceiling creates continuity, while the built-in shelving makes use of otherwise overlooked space. A warm upholstered bed anchors the room, and unexpected touches of coral and ochre keep it feeling fresh.

It’s a great example of why challenging spaces can sometimes become the most interesting rooms in the house.

Good design doesn’t fight the architecture—it works with it.

This bedroom is a great example of how pattern, texture, and color can completely transform a space. 💙🌿

We kept the existing whimsical bird-and-branch wallcovering across the sloped walls, creating an enveloping, collected feel. A soft blue upholstered bed grounds the pattern, while woven furnishings, warm wood tones, layered bedding, and mixed-metal lighting bring in texture and warmth.

The result? A bedroom that feels cozy, polished, and full of personality—without taking itself too seriously.

Because sometimes the best rooms happen when you’re willing to take the pattern all the way up. ✨

From playroom to polished gathering space. ✨

What was once a room dedicated to toys and play has been completely reimagined as an elegant, comfortable space for gathering and entertaining.

The transformation wasn’t about changing the architecture—it was about seeing the room differently. A more sophisticated furniture plan, layered textures, soft blues and neutrals, and thoughtful styling gave this space an entirely new purpose while working with the features already there.

It’s a great example of how the rooms in our homes can evolve as our lives do.

See the full transformation and read the story behind the design in our newest blog post at DreamInteriorsNY.com.

Sherwin-Williams has announced its 2027 Color of the Year: Celery SW 6421.

A soft, airy herbal green, Celery brings a sense of freshness and ease to an interior while still feeling sophisticated and livable.

We love seeing green continue to move beyond a trend and become a new kind of neutral. 🌿 Celery could be beautiful on walls, cabinetry, a powder room vanity, or even as an accent through fabrics and furnishings.

It pairs especially well with warm whites, natural woods, soft blues, woven textures and aged brass—making it an easy color to incorporate without completely changing a room.

Would you use Celery in your home?

Sometimes the quietest design choices make the biggest difference. 🤍

In our client's bedrooms, the goal was to soften the windows without competing with the clean, modern feel of the space—or the natural light.

We used full-length, tailored drapery on sleek black hardware to add softness, texture and height. Paired with understated shades, the treatments give the homeowners flexibility to control light and privacy throughout the day.

For the larger window and door configuration, extending the drapery across the entire span helps visually connect the individual windows and doors, making them read as one intentional architectural feature.

It’s a detail that can completely change the way a room feels.

Window treatments aren’t just the finishing touch. When designed correctly, they can change the proportion, softness and even the perceived scale of a room.

And yes—we really do obsess over where the rod begins and ends. 😉

A beautiful kitchen doesn’t have to choose between warm and modern.

For this Hamptons kitchen, we used contrast to create character while keeping the overall space light, inviting and timeless.

Crisp white cabinetry and countertops create a bright foundation, while the rich wood island brings warmth and gives the large kitchen a natural focal point. The dark herringbone floor grounds the room and adds just enough drama.

Then come the details—the mixed black and brass hardware, woven counter stools, floating wood shelves, statement lighting and touches of blue and white. Each adds another layer without overwhelming the space.

One of our favorite details? The way the wood tones repeat from the island to the floating shelves and hood trim. Those small connections are what make a room feel thoughtfully designed rather than simply filled with beautiful things.

And with skylights, windows and doors surrounding the kitchen, natural light became part of the design itself.

Bright. Warm. A little unexpected. And designed for the way this family actually lives.

Because the best kitchens aren't just beautiful to look at—they're the rooms everyone wants to be in. 🤍

Open concept doesn’t mean every room has to match.

When the kitchen, dining room and living room are all visible from one another, the goal is to make the spaces feel connected—but still give each one its own identity.

In this East Quogue home, we created that flow by repeating materials, tones and finishes throughout the three spaces.

The warm wood of the kitchen island and cabinetry carries into the dining area, while black accents appear in the lighting, seating and living room furnishings. Soft neutrals keep the overall palette cohesive, and touches of brass add warmth throughout.

At the center of it all, the dramatic two-sided fireplace becomes an architectural anchor—connecting the dining and living spaces while still giving each room a sense of separation.

And because your eye travels from one room directly into the next, we considered every sightline. Each space needed to work beautifully on its own and as part of the larger picture.

The result? A home that flows naturally from cooking → dining → relaxing, without any one space feeling like an extension of another.

That’s the difference between an open floor plan and a thoughtfully designed open floor plan. 🤍

Quiet doesn’t have to mean boring.

This East Quogue bedroom is a perfect example of how a soft, restrained palette can still have plenty of personality.

Rather than relying on lots of color or pattern, we layered texture, subtle coastal tones and warm natural materials to give the room depth. The grasscloth wallcovering adds movement and warmth, while the soft blue upholstered headboard brings in just enough color to keep everything feeling fresh and relaxed.

And one of our favorite details? The woven pendants flanking the bed. By taking the lighting off the nightstands, we freed up valuable surface space while adding another layer of texture—and a beautiful glow in the evening.

Even the mirror was positioned intentionally, capturing a reflection of the bed and pendant and giving you another view of the room's details.

The result is light, comfortable and collected—a bedroom designed to feel just as good at the end of the day as it looks in the morning. 🤍

Sometimes the quietest rooms are all about the details.

Too high? Too low? Or just right?

You can choose the perfect chandelier…but hang it at the wrong height and something about the room will still feel off.

For most dining rooms, a good starting point is to hang the bottom of the chandelier 30–36 inches above the tabletop. From there, we consider the ceiling height, scale of the fixture, size of the table, and sightlines throughout the room.

Because in interior design, sometimes a few inches really do make all the difference.

Designer Tip: Before finalizing the height, step back and look at the fixture from adjoining rooms. It should feel connected to the dining table without blocking the view across it.

Too high. Too low. Just right.
Which mistake do you see most often?

Save this one for your next dining room update! 📌

There’s nothing better than hearing that a finished space feels exactly like our clients hoped it would.

For a recent client, their primary bedroom and bathroom renovation was about more than creating beautiful rooms. It was about creating spaces that felt personal to them — while making the renovation process feel organized, collaborative, and manageable from beginning to end.

From listening to their wish list and developing the design direction to coordinating contractors, bids, furnishings, finishes, and all those little details in between, we were there to help guide the process.

And hearing that they walk into their new space each morning and “still can’t believe it’s ours”? That’s the part we love most.

Thank you for trusting Dream Interiors NY with your home. It was such a pleasure bringing your vision to life!

Thinking about renovating your own home? We’d love to hear what you have in mind.

Same designer. Two very different lifestyles.

Designing a home in Brooklyn comes with a completely different set of priorities than designing a home in the Hamptons. One may call for maximizing every inch, embracing architectural character, and creating spaces that work hard every day. The other may be about slowing things down, effortless entertaining, indoor-outdoor living, and creating a true escape from the city.

In our newest blog, “Brooklyn vs. the Hamptons: Designing for Two Very Different Lifestyles,” we’re sharing how location and lifestyle influence everything from space planning and materials to color, furnishings, and the way a home is meant to be lived in.

✨ Two locations. Two lifestyles. Two very different design stories.

What does an interior designer notice when they walk into a room? 👀

It’s probably not what you think.

Before we notice the pretty pillows or the accessories, we’re looking at the things that quietly determine whether a room feels right.

Scale. Proportion. Lighting. Rug size. Window treatments. Art placement. Traffic flow.

They may seem like small details, but together they can completely change how a space looks, feels—and functions.

The funny part? When these things are done well, you probably won’t notice them at all. You’ll just know the room feels right. ✨

Swipe through to see a few of the things we notice almost immediately.
