POSTS STORIES REELS

For as long as I can remember, I dreamed of becoming a doctor and traveling to space.

The path to both was filled with setbacks, detours, and moments when it would have been easier to give up. ‘A Heart for Space’ is the story of that journey, and the lessons I learned along the way about resilience, purpose, and pursuing the impossible. The book also includes compelling interviews with 8 modern space pioneers: Jared Isaacman; Nicole Stott; Sian Proctor; Kellie Gerardi; Hayley Arceneaux; Eytan Stibbe; Chris Huie; and Drew Gaffney.

Excited to share that my book has debuted as a USA Today Bestseller! I am so stoked!

Thank you to everyone who has helped make this happen - my family and friends, the amazing people featured in my book, and to YOU for buying and reading 'A Heart for Space' and all the kind comments, reviews, and messages of encouragement. by @drejahangir

Over the years, people have asked me how I ended up pursuing two very different dreams.

I’m a cardiologist, a professor of medicine, and in 2024 I had the incredible privilege of becoming the 704th person to travel to space. It took 12 applications before that dream became reality.

Most of my life has been spent helping people care for their hearts. But along the way, I also realized how much resilience, courage, and persistence it takes to pursue the things that matter most.

Those experiences—in medicine, in space, and in the moments of doubt in between—led me to write my book, “A Heart for Space.” The book explores what it means to navigate competing dreams, silence imposter syndrome, and find the courage to pivot when life asks something new of you.

On this page I share thoughts on resilience, lessons from medicine and space, and conversations about curiosity, exploration, and purpose.

If any of those topics resonate with you, I’d be honored to have you follow along on the journey.

You don’t have to be an astronaut to belong in space.
Andrew’s path started in TV engineering, not a spacesuit. He spent 13 years working with NASA, helping bring space missions to life behind the scenes. Now he’s building Inspire 24 to help more people pursue their dreams. Space needs engineers, storytellers, creators, and people who refuse to give up.

He got rejected by Pixar… then got called back because one tiny test changed everything.

If you need proof that your first “no” is not the end. Andrew Gordon’s path is such a good reminder that talent matters, but so does persistence.

He started with a Commodore Amiga, not a fancy film school pipeline.
He learned by doing, failing, redoing, and staying curious.
His biggest takeaway? The story always comes first. The tools just help you tell it better.

That part hit me: overnight success is usually just years of invisible work. What “no” are you still carrying around?
