Sometimes I forget why I’m here. It’s so easy to get caught up in the comparison game. I graduated high school 21 years ago but social media can have me mentally right back there wondering why am I not pretty enough, cool enough, popular enough. But then I snap out of it and think about the life I have and the many blessings it includes and I remember that I’m right where I’m supposed to be. I show up here everyday to tell that little voice in my head that sometimes whispers “you’re not enough” that yes I am. And to show any other women who had that voice inside her head no matter how loud it may be that she is too.

Hope all my witches are having a fun spooky season 🧙 We took LB to his very first Halloween event yesterday - the witches ride. Since I just had surgery I was in no condition to participate BUT we had fun seeing ladies come together for a good time and good cause in our community. What kind of spooky fun is your family up to this season? by @dressedofintentions

Officially on the mend from LB’s birth and it feels like a huge weight has been lifted 😮‍💨 For 6+ years now I have carried the physical burden of starting our family and it’s been one hit after another. I love him so much and don’t regret it but ngl, I’ve definitely had my share of crying, this is so unfair, woe is me moments. I nearly died from an ectopic, then spent years on weight loss and fertility meds, bounded back from another loss and failed transfers, went through pregnancy, had a complicated birth, and spent months of trying to breastfeed but now finally I get to just exist in my own body. Today I am sore and super uncomfortable but I’m also excited that this is the end of a loooooong road and I can finally heal and close this chapter. by @dressedofintentions

A little insta vs reality mom edition 🤪 got all dressed up, had a great date night, came home and was holding little boo for a few minutes and got puked on 😔 At least it happened at the end of the night and not right before we headed out. Also, I can confirm this beautiful dress holds up well when washed.

Let’s talk a little instagram vs reality Mom edition for a minute.

On one hand I absolutely love that we got to get some beautiful family photos during our beach trip and these pics absolutely capture the joy of spending time with little boy. But also . . . This trip was A LOT and not always the peaceful bliss seen here.

Being in a new location unlocked all new Mom anxieties. Some completely rational and things a good Mom should worry about like making sure sunscreen is applied properly and LB is secure in his float while in the water. Others were predictable like trying to eat the sand or not wanting to wear sunglasses but also being bothered by the sun in his eyes and staying vigilant about these things. But some were also completely irrational PPA manifestations like imagining myself tripping and causing LB to go over the balcony railing, or worrying about dry drowning after he got mildly splashed by one wave. I don’t think there wasn’t a waking moment the entire trip where I wasn’t worried about his safety or comfort on some level.

I share this because I see so many people tell parents to “enjoy every moment” and while I think that’s well meaning I also think it can minimize those in the trenches moments. Two things can be true at once - you can enjoy your kids childhood but also feel overwhelmed or exhausted by the incredible responsibilities. by @dressedofintentions

Had a lovely week at the beach making memories with little Boy. If you thought becoming a mom meant I would give up on being extra you were wrong 😉 I couldn’t decide between these sequin coverups so I didn’t. But hey, we have a pool at home so both will get plenty of wear. by @dressedofintentions

Tucked in or tunic style? I need to be vulnerable here for a minute though when talking about this outfit . . .

My plan was to wear the top tucked in, because in my mind I look the same in jeans as I did this time last year. But then I caught a look at myself in the full length mirror at the office and realized nope, giant Mom pooch! I’ve always carried lower belly weight but now it’s extra full and saggy. I know that bounce back culture is toxic, I know that my post birth physical concerns are different than many other moms (yay for surgery in four weeks 🙌), and I know that between adjusting to life as a working Mom and PPA my top priority right now is my mental health . . . But still I found myself feeling down and wanting to cry.

So anyways, I untucked it and wouldn’t you know on the way back to my desk two co-workers complimented my look. Got to love a versatile piece that can be styled multiple ways depending upon my mood.
