This week we learned Australia's longest-running indoor skatepark, @slamfactory would be closing this weekend.

I got out for a skate on Sunday, and enjoyed the final session (+extras 🙏🏻). A bit of a niggling injury muted some of what I could do, but was happy to land a few new tricks. Especially sticking a backslide that felt rock solid, and fakie to Royale. I could session that rail all day.

Over the last 12 months returning to skating, it's always been a pleasure to skate here. Just about every session helped me bring back old tricks, or learn new ones. Wooden ramps just have a different feel to concrete parks.

It's not perfect, of course, but it was a place where there was conversation and possibility.

Thanks for the skate, and the slams 🙏🏻💥

I really liked this frame from yesterday's xc ride Ourimbah MTB park. No editing, straight from the raw cut.

Tried out a hand mount for my DJI Osmo Action - it's no good for MTB with so much vibration and input to the bars, even though the stabilisation on the camera is pretty awesome.

But this angle through the forest with the trees all splayed against the sky was 👌🏻

XC tracks were running superbly with a bit of moisture. Such a pity there's no XC racing there at the moment.

Found a bunch more photos from skating back in the day. Chronological order, these stretch from '96 through to the end of 99, maybe even early 2000.

Locations are in Bathurst, NSW - a local skateboarder ended up building a pretty great skatepark, seen in the later shots. Sadly, it was burnt down in the early 2000s.

All the photos would have been shot by @kineve . Skating photography was a bit more tricky when it was on film. Shoot & hope you got it!

Pleased with the height of the air out of the ramp! Hopefully can get that back... 🤞🏻

A little while back, I drove down to a local skate park to check it out for the first time. Umina skate park on the Central Coast of NSW, about an hour North of Sydney.

There were a few kids on scooters around. “Are they roller skates?” he said to me. I was on inline skates, “rollerblades” most would say.

I was astonished. I tried to explain: “Roller skates are like a skateboard. They’ve got four wheels each boot, but two pairs. These are inline skates, because the wheels are in a line.”

Nah, they’re roller skates, he insisted. Ok, whatever. I wasn’t going to change his mind.

Super cool to connect with a few skaters today @umina_beach_skate_park - though super hot & windy.

A few clips from the end of the day. Didn't catch some smooth tricks from @ollieg43 and a bunch of others, but we got some nice tricks in at the end.

More inline skaters in one place than I've ever seen on the coast 😆
