Sports in Kansas Volleyball Player to Watch: Drew Bruna, Hanover, Sr. MB

Drew Bruna has established herself as one of the top middle blockers in Kansas and enters her senior season looking to help Hanover capture a third straight state championship. The 5-foot-10 standout has earned First Team All-State honors in each of the past two seasons after being named Second Team All-State as a freshman, while also collecting back-to-back State All-Tournament Team selections and three straight First Team TVL honors. Bruna helped lead Hanover to a 36-7 record and another state title in 2025, finishing the season with a remarkable .396 hitting percentage, 369 kills, 90 blocks, and surpassing the 1,000-career-kill milestone. She is verbally committed to continue her volleyball career at the University of Nebraska Kearney.

When asked about her senior season for the Wildcats, Bruna said, “I can’t wait to see what my senior season brings! I know we are all excited for this season and to get back out to state, and hopefully get the 3-peat!”

Bruna has been just as dominant on the basketball court. After earning Second Team All-State and Second Team TVL honors as a sophomore, she elevated her game as a junior by collecting SIK First Team All-State, State Tournament Team, and First Team TVL recognition. Her success in multiple sports highlights the competitiveness and consistency she brings year-round, and she’ll once again be one of the state’s top athletes to watch as she looks to finish her high school volleyball career with another championship. #sportsinkansas

Hanover junior Drew Bruna is off to a fantastic start to her 2025 season, establishing herself as one of the top hitters in the state. Bruna leads the Wildcats in kills per set (3.8), hitting percentage (.448), and total blocks (19). Through just nine matches, she has already tallied 78 kills while hitting at one of the top efficiencies in the state. Hanover (1A-DII, 9-2) stumbled out of the gate with early losses to Linn and Axtell in its opening triangular but has been rolling ever since. The Wildcats look primed to be a contender once again this fall. #sportsinkansas
