Around early last year, @samythist_ pointed out how my lack of openness was impacting our friendship and possibly other relationships in my life. Our convo about it really stuck with me. Since then, I’ve been putting more effort into being more open with sharing my thoughts, as well as being more curious and inquiring more about the people around me. by @drewempire_

PUMPKIN FOR @positivedeviancenyc 🎃🪩😷

Fact about me: I love to dance. I danced formally for a lot of my life & have made moments into dance parties truly since I was a baby. I think dancing & music are vital keys to my own well being.

When COVID came, going out dancing became a risk I didn't want to take because I'd hate to get #LongCOVID on a dancefloor & not be able to dance anymore, not be able to work as much, etc. (all of which wouldn't be inherently bad - I'm just tryna prevent unnecessary barriers when I can). Luckily, #PositiveDeviance emerged & made some safer spaces for me & so many others to go shake it to. Ever ever appreciate them 🙏

So! I have the honor of making them a pumpkin, which MIIIIGHT be at their dance party this Saturday 👀 & I am enthusiastic to share their fundraiser too so that they can sustain holding safer events. Check them out at @positivedeviancenyc & support if + how you can (especially if you're someone who goes out a lot & have the privilege of not feeling like you need to #MaskUp or care about getting sick).
