Let me tell you a story about my friend @susangibsonmusic.

At @redriversongs this year I noticed Susan, ever the wizard with a needle and thread, patching a hole in a pair of her jeans with a bright mishmash of colors.

“Suz!” I said, “my favorite pair of jeans has a hole in the back pocket. Would you patch it up for me?”

She said she would, and at no charge if she could do whatever she wanted to them. An offer I could not refuse.

8 months later, Susan comes down from summering in Montana (troubadours get to “summer” places if they want— it’s one of the perks) to join the rest of the Red River crew to play @bigbarndance in Taos…

…and behold!!!

Hundreds upon hundreds of hours surely went into these jeans, although Suz has been coy about just how many.

I try to make it a point to tell my friends that I love them, but Susan always makes it a point to SHOW her friends that she loves them, which is why…

Susan Gibson is the Champion of the Universe, let it here be known.

And yes, I look fabulous in them.

Thank you, Suz! I love you, too!❤️ by @drewkennedy

Drew Kennedy is one of the good guys in country music. Along with being a great singer/songwriter and performer himself, he’s also one of the guys the big mainstream names turn to when they need a song of substance.

That’s what “Every Man” is, and is arguably the best-written song on Cody Johnson’s new album “Banks of the Trinity.” @drewkennedy was gracious enough to perform it on the latest episode of The Hook.

You can see the full performance and Drew’s entire appearance on Episode 13 of The Hook now up on YouTube.

Kennedy wrote “Every Man” with Gordie Sampson and Travis Meadows.

Come to Sagebrush in Austin (most) every Sunday for tapings of The Hook from 2:30 to 5:00. Next show on September 13th.

Really great wisdom and advice from songwriter and performer @drewkennedy about how to navigate the adverse moment so many of our favorite artists are being forced to navigate, especially on the road.

Where some see adversity, others might be able to find opportunity.

This is just one of many moments of wisdom Drew Kennedy shared on Episode 13 of @the_hook_songs now up on YouTube.

Shows tape (most) every Sunday at Sagebrush in Austin from 2:30 to 5:00. Songwriters, come sign up. It’s open to EVERYONE. Fans of songwriting, see some of the greatest songwriters out there.
