Hi! My name is Drew & I’m a city boy with a deep love for the great outdoors.

I’m a Broadway actor approaching my 18th year in NYC, and while this city has my heart, my longing for proximity to nature grows every day. I was raised in Massachusetts and nature played a significant role in my childhood. My step father taught my siblings & I how to fly-fish from a young age, and my dad regularly took us hiking & camping in Maine and New Hampshire.

I wasn’t afforded the opportunity to truly reconnect with nature until the pandemic hit. Show contracts & auditions kept me locked in NY for years, but with the industry on pause, I was suddenly free. After four months of lockdown in Harlem, my brother & I decided to meet up for a 6-week National Park road trip. We flew to Seattle at the beginning of July and made a giant Western loop that took us from Olympic NP out to the Badlands & eventually down to Joshua Tree. We saw more than 20 parks, hiked over 165 miles and drove through 10 different states.

I’ve always felt a deep connection with nature, but simultaneously struggle with my queerness in environments that have always felt exorbitantly heteronormative. It’s not uncommon for me to feel “othered” on trails and in campsites. For this reason, I am inspired by members of the queer community who challenge the status quo and work tirelessly to bring queerness to outdoor spaces (i.e. @pattiegonia, @jedidiahjenkins and THIS Insta page). And more so, it felt important to explore these landscapes with my older brother who is also gay. In the wake of our mom’s passing in 2018, it felt very remarkably special to spend 6 weeks camping, hiking, fishing & laughing with my older gay brother.

The time I’ve spent outdoors has been wonderfully restorative & grounding & I look forward to one day sharing the parks with a partner. Until then, I celebrate the expansion of inclusivity, diversity and queerness in the stunning National Park System.

Belated photo dump! One of my first professional jobs in New York was swinging “White Christmas” at @papermillplayhouse in 2011, and somehow, I’ve managed to find myself back on the same stage with the show 13 years later (thank you @kris10.pope , @spencer_gualdoni , @markshoebee , @cynthiameng and @kevmetz ). I know I keep flirting with “leaving the biz”, but, contracts like this one make me want to stick it out. Y’all have no idea how talented this cast is.
