Hey hey!
I made a poster for @deathcabforcutie’s show tonight in San Diego.
This one was a whole lot of fun to make and an absolute honour. I’ve been a big fan of DCFC since I first heard ‘The Photo Album’ about 25 years ago. I think I bought it from Out of Step (RIP) in Leeds. They have been in constant rotation ever since.
It was a real treat to dig into the new record while working on this, as it’s an absolute peach. Really nails everything I love about the band.
Hope you dig it.
Anyways, I should have a small number of copies soon, but it’s worth signing up to the mailing list for that sort of news, since this is hardly going to be doing numbers as a trending reel, and far more akin to screaming into an infinite void.

Absolutely over the bloody moon to have made a poster for the mighty @minusthebear’s show this evening.
This was a lot of fun to do.
@brokenpressdesign have worked to pull together a superb series of posters for this tour and absolutely nailed the printing and logistics. Top work.

Yet again, an absolute honour and privilege to be asked to make a poster for the mighty @deathcabforcutie.
As I’ve stated before, I’ve been a big DCFC fan for a long, long time, so it’s always an absolute pleasure to get to make work for bands that I have such a personal connection with.
The new album is an absolute peach, and it was requested that some of that was channelled into the designs. After spending a week in London, recently, staying near the river and wandering around the old docks and warehouses, I knew I needed to bring some of that into the poster. Walking along the Thames and finding ways down to the shores, really highlights the age of the city. You can feel centuries of ghosts hanging around those parts. I guess the maritime nature of those areas naturally lead towards the inclusion of the central lighthouse, surrounded by an imagined cityscape, filled with ghosts.
Once more, @printsofthieves nailed the printing on this. Not only is it a limited edition screen print, it glows in the dark. You don’t get that with digital prints. I wanted to do something that can’t really be replicated in other mediums.
Anyway, I will have copies available very soon (along with last month’s San Diego print, which I’ve been too busy to get signed and up on sale…sorry).

Day 4.

Bring Me The Head of a Marool.

Found in the seas off the north coast of Scotland, this little bastard takes great pleasure in witnessing the sinking of all manner of marine vessels.
Rumour has it that they have beautiful singing voices (sometimes used to lure unwitting ships into peril), but choose to only sing the songs of either Texas, Crazytown or Ed Sheeran, so as to add misery to the final moments of drowning sailors. by @drewmillward

Day 3.

Bring me the head of Black Shuck.

This devilish beast has been stalking the East Anglian coastline and fens since 1577, so it’s time to put an end to this madness. Reports were of the beast being cycolopian in nature, but it turns out it was, in fact, triclopian. The extra eye, most likely, accommodates for sight in the darkened graveyards and rural byways by night.

Day 2:
Bring me the head of a Unicorn!

In reality, far from their supposed friendly and whimsical nature, unicorns are vicious predators. Known to hunt humans for “sport” and track them over vast distances, only to wear their prey’s heads atop their horns.
Even after death, a unicorns spirit will remain in its skull and curse anyone who removes the remains from its final resting place. by @drewmillward

Let’s go.
I didn’t do a Creep Parade last year and frankly I felt like I’d let myself down. In a bid to fight the dying of the light (seasonally, spiritually, psychologically, politically, societally…) I will return to this fun project.

LEARN TO DRAW! - @drewmillward

Another OPEN HOUSE exclusive.

This one is printed with an unpigmented discharge base, and it feels like printing with something like swarfega. It’s weird, doesn’t feel like it should be as nice to work with as it is.

The result is more interesting than a flat grey, it’s essentially bleached, so there’s some variation and some magenta hues.

It’s like I’m describing wine. Pair it with a creamy pint. by @drewmillward
