After 7 years living abroad (and a stint at Tinder in LA) I'm officially moving back to SF...and to the Bay Area, the greatest place on earth. If you know me, you know I lied and told people I was here all along but was actually living in Thailand, Morocco, South Africa and Mexico mostly. Closing that chapter and going back to my happy place. Not sure if the nomad days will ever come back but I want to have a hand in changing the world, and this is where it's done.⁠

Thank you to everyone who helped keep me safe on my journey. Especially you. I hope YOU come to visit someday.⁠

Why Is The Bay Area the greatest place in the world? For those that don't already know:⁠
⁠
-The open-mindedness is infectious.⁠
-Everyone's so growth focused.⁠
-The diversity of thought is incredible.⁠
-People are mostly very well read and extremely bright.⁠
-It's 5-7 years ahead of the rest of the world.⁠
-The 3 city lifestyle (SF-OAK-BERK) is unreal and you don't need a car.⁠
-The entire world lives here. I say hello in 5 languages everyday.⁠
-The highest rate of interracial marriage in America (30%) which normalizes all kinds of love.⁠
-It's the single freest place you'll ever see on planet earth.⁠

Also, the homelessness and lawlessness that is portrayed on television is nowhere near reality. Can't trust the media about Mexico, the Middle East, or The Bay. Everywhere I've loved and lived is nothing like they show on TV. Don't believe it. It's cleaner than I've seen in it in the past 10 years. ⁠

10 years ago today hitchhiking around Ethiopia without a care in the world with Alex Hojilla RIP we miss you, bro. Next week I will speak in Croatia about Radical Travel and how it's not dangerous, it's not scary, we've all been lied to for decades to drive politics and commerce.

Go out on a limb, that's where the fruit is.

My boy Alex was a crazy traveler his whole adult life, we spent months in Cambodia, Thailand, Ethiopia and more together and then I decided to go to Silicon Valley to get back to work and he stayed vagabonding around in Asia for years...one day in 2016 he messaged me that he finally was ready to settle down, met a girl, got a dog, started a hostel, and no joke a few days later I found out he died in a boring ass car accident on his way home from work.

Live your life, and if you're not 100% happy where it is now, just go somewhere else, and start over. by @drewsgoing
