We were honored to have Sushi Chef Shigero Okada from Ginza, Tokyo working with our students for an intensive fall break course. These students gave up their fall break to spend three days learning traditional Japanese cuisine fundamentals. Such a bittersweet night. We feel so lucky to have been a part of the final Dinos After Dark at @acadnatsci . The Museum Innovation Fund awarded us a grant to run our Women in Food class this summer. They invited the women we worked with to share their food and art with the attendees at the event this evening. People shared memories of visits to the museum over the years, bringing a class that was all about connections full circle. Thank you @acadnatsci for a beautiful evening. We will miss you!

We love our @lesdamesphl who support and honor women in the food industry. Their annual gala raised money for scholarships to support the next generation. We were excited to support the cake table in honor and appreciation of the amazing @realbakingwithrose, a beautiful night with delicious food. Congratulations to all of the honorees. Our dragons are cooking up some heat 🐉🔥

Matt Schaffner, MS Culinary Arts and Food Science ’26 helped to develop an apple-based habanero hot sauce for boutique New York City hotel Nine Orchard. The sauce was created in collaboration with Saint Lucifer Spice Company, a Philadelphia-based company that specializes in hot sauces and other condiments.

Building on the product development experience he gained during his graduate co-op in snack R&D at Campbell's, Schaffner applied his skills to bring this industry collaboration to life.

Philly has always been a great food city. What’s changing is that the rest of the country (and the world) is finally taking notice. This year alone, we hosted World Cup matches and celebrated the nation’s 250th anniversary, proof that Philly can deliver on the biggest stages.   From neighborhood institutions to award-winning restaurants, our city’s culinary community has long been driven by creativity, diversity, and innovation. Hosting the James Beard Awards would be another opportunity to celebrate the incredible talent that our city has to offer.
