One prayer I hope I never stop praying, no matter how successful I become.
Lord, if You ever bless me with everything I’ve been praying for, please don’t let the blessings change my heart. When I finally have the money I once worried about, the opportunities I once begged for, and the life I used to imagine before falling asleep, remind me of who I was when none of it existed yet.
Remind me of the days when I had more dreams than resources. The nights I questioned whether things would ever get better. The moments when all I could do was pray, keep working, and trust that somehow You would make a way.
If one day I can afford the things I used to only look at, travel to places I once only dreamed about, and give my family the kind of life I always wanted for them, please never let me believe I did it all by myself.
Keep me humble enough to remember where I came from. Keep me kind when I have the power to be otherwise. Keep me generous when I finally have more than enough, especially toward people who are standing where I once stood. Never let me measure another person’s worth by what they have. I know what it feels like to be trying your hardest while still waiting for life to change.
If my achievements ever become louder than my gratitude, humble me. If recognition becomes more important than my character, redirect me. If I ever become too busy enjoying Your blessings to spend time with You, remind me Who gave them to me.
And when the life I prayed for finally becomes my normal life, please never let me forget that today’s ordinary was once yesterday’s answered prayer. I don’t only want You to bless me, Lord. I want to become someone who can be trusted with the blessing.
May success never take me further away from You.
May it simply give me more ways to love, give, help, and become the person You intended me to be.
