..................................................................

Just took the big dive into the rest of my life~!

I retired from @gsu_artdesign after 30 years and 10 before that at @utknoxville !!

I feel so lucky to have a job that I’ve loved for so long that it never felt too much like a job. It allowed me to follow my artistic curiosities and convictions farther than I could have ever imagined. And to be around fantastic people and conversations and art making...It is what has kept me at it for 40 years, the last 30 right here at GSU.

What has made this job really great and fulfilling… is GSU. It’s all the students in their scrappy devoted beautiful messes, like we all are, striving to make the best art we can. And its all of you, my amazing colleagues…I’ve never been in a situation where people working together actually supported each other like we do, and over the years I’ve been at GSU, it’s just gotten better and better.

It’s a real success and a real triumph and it’s very rare and very hard to achieve. I’m incredibly grateful to have spent the majority of my life working towards this beautiful thing. For me, it’s a model of how the world can actually be, where individuals from every possible angle of humanness are fully present in the mix, interacting as a real community. It becomes a true functioning democracy in the most radical sense there is. All ideas are valid, all peoples’ individuality is treasured, and their goals supported and cultivated. This is our shared mission, in a nutshell: to make the world better.

I feel I’ve been able to do that with all of you by my side and for that I feel really really grateful and full of love.

Thank you for all these years making my life fulfilling and joyous! by @driftersproject

I am just thrilled to be included in this article for Forbes by @joanneshurvell
(London) with 3 other fantastic artists :: @raphaellaspence (U.K.), @richterova_pet_artist (Czech Republic), and @cindypeaseroe (U.S.A.)
Link in bio.

 "Some of the most interesting contemporary artists today can be described as “environmental artists.” Olafur Eliasson, Agnes Denes and Andy Goldsworthy are three prominent examples as each engage with the environment through distinct practices: Eliasson creates immersive works focused on climate systems and melting ice, Denes transforms land into conceptual ecological statements such as urban wheat fields, and Goldsworthy constructs ephemeral sculptures from natural materials that return to the landscape, highlighting cycles of change and decay. Raphaella Spence (U.K.), Pam Longobardi (U.S.A.), Veronika Richterová (Czech Republic) and Cindy Pease Roe (U.S.A.) are four influential female artists who deserve greater recognition for their works on ocean waste. They each have exhibitions in North America and Europe in 2026 where you can see their powerful environmental artwork. "

A visit to my big public art project in Naples, FL. It is in a 75' breezeway on 5th Ave South, comprised of 2 large composite sculptural wall pieces and 5 architectural diaramas inset into the wall. After seeing my exhibition Ocean Gleaning, the principals of Colson Investments felt the public need to see the work and commissioned me for their public space. Big gratitude to Myriam Colson, @susan_knippenberg and @artisnaples for helping to make this project realized. taken in 5th Avenue Naples, Florida by @driftersproject
