Let show you BEHIND THE SCENE before the event commence.

Before we serve the guests, a lot goes on behind the scenes from purchasing drinks, ice, and other supplies to loading, transportation, offloading, chilling, and setting up a clean service station. We also brief our team at the loading point and debrief at the event venue to ensure everything is in place.

MOTT INSIGHTS II

You enjoy the drinks. But have you ever thought about the business behind every bottle served at an event? 🥂

For this edition of MOTT INSIGHTS, we sat with Taiwo Jones of @drinks_taste to explore the business behind beverage services in the events industry.

And let’s just say, there’s a lot more to it than chilling bottles and serving drinks.

Who pays when a bottle or glass gets damaged? How do you protect expensive drinks from going missing? When should you offer a discount, and how do you ensure that a gesture of goodwill doesn’t become a financial loss?

What happens when your team has to arrive hours before the event begins? And how do you account for those additional costs without compromising the quality of your service?

These are the kinds of questions that reveal the difference between delivering a service and running a sustainable business.

In our conversation, Taiwo shares lessons from his entrepreneurial journey, including how a complimentary service helped him gain more than four steady clients, why an undocumented discount nearly cost him a client relationship, and the systems Drinks and Taste uses to protect both its clients and its reputation.

His story is a reminder that every business decision has financial implications, even the ones that seem insignificant.

A discount can open doors, but it must be strategic. Great service can keep clients coming back, but you must understand your costs to remain profitable. And the little details you account for today can determine the sustainability of your business tomorrow.

Whether you’re in beverage services, event planning, decor, photography or any other creative business, there’s something to learn from this conversation.

Swipe through the highlights, read Taiwo’s full interview, and consider what these lessons mean for the way you run your own business.

Because the goal isn’t just to deliver an excellent service. It’s to build a business that can keep delivering it.
