💙🐅 JSU HOMECOMING 2026: PART 1 💙🤍

This trip was about so much more than Homecoming. It was about LOVE, LEGACY, and FULL-CIRCLE MOMENTS!🥹💙

Walking the same grounds where Austin and I met, fell in love, and began building our story… but this time with our two beautiful girls by our side. ❤️

There was something so surreal about showing Ehzra and Ehrmia where Mommy and Daddy's love story began. The same place that helped shape who we are is now part of the legacy we're building for them.

Jackson State gave us so much more than an education. It gave us each other, lifelong memories, community, and a foundation that continues to shape our lives.

And as if that wasn't enough, seeing students I once taught now THRIVING, LEADING, and making names for themselves at JSU and in THEE SONIC BOOM OF THE SOUTH?! 🥹🥁💙 BABYYYY, talk about a blessing! To witness young people I've had the privilege of pouring into now walking in their purpose, carrying the legacy forward, and creating their OWN stories on the very grounds that helped shape mine… THAT'S IMPACT! THAT'S LEGACY! 🙌🏾

And to experience all of this magic again through our daughters' eyes? PRICELESS! ✨

The weather was perfect, the vibes were unmatched, and the memories will last forever!

Now, did we make it to EVERYTHING? Absolutely NOT! 😂🤣 Baby, we were TIRED! But our hearts were FULL! 💙

From where our love began, to the students we've poured into, to the legacy our love is building through our daughters… FULL CIRCLE!🥹💙

There's truly no place like THEE I LOVE!🐅💙🤍

Words can’t express how proud I am of our Ehzra Sanyi Koel! 🥹❤️

Not only did she keep us on track making sure we got back from Mississippi in time for the race, but she woke up with joy, expectation, and a WINNER’S mentality. At just 5 years old, my girl ran the ENTIRE mile without stopping! 🏃🏾‍♀️💨 Then she turned around and absolutely dominated the dash race, crossing the finish line in 1st place! 🔥🥇

Watching her display discipline, perseverance, confidence, and determination was such a beautiful reminder that age doesn’t define greatness. She truly lived up to the meaning of her name—God’s helper—by inspiring our entire family this weekend. And little sister Ehrmia is right behind her! ❤️

A huge shoutout to Dawanna, your family, and the entire @itstartswithme2 team for hosting such an incredible event that encourages healthy families, movement, and community. Thank you for creating moments like these. We left with full hearts, unforgettable memories, and so much inspiration.

Way to go, Ehzra! Mommy and Daddy couldn’t be prouder. We thank God for you every single day. 💛✨ #ItStartsWithMe #HealthyFamilies #FutureChampion #GirlsWhoRun #ProudParents FamilyFirst GodsHelper by @drjoveezy

Happy Father’s Day to the man who makes God’s love visible in our home every single day. ❤️

The word father comes from the Old English fæder, meaning protector, provider, and one who gives life. Baby, you embody all of that and so much more.

Thank you for your constant support, your unconditional love, your wisdom, making us laugh, and the way you faithfully cover our family. Thank you for teaching our girls through your example what strength, integrity, kindness, and faith look like. Because of you, they will always know what it feels like to be loved, valued, and protected.

You are a generational blessing. The legacy you’re building through your presence, leadership, and love will impact our family for years to come. Watching you be their father is one of my greatest joys, and I am forever grateful for the life we’re building together.

Our girls are incredibly blessed to have you, and I am beyond blessed to call you mine.

Happy Father’s Day, baby. We love you so much!😘🖤 by @drjoveezy

June 15th, 2022 we received a gift from God just in time for Father’s Day.☺️ Ehrmia you add so much joy into our lives with your voice, ideas, energy, smile and impeccable communication skills and love of God. You remind us everyday that: “This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.”Psalm 118:24 ☀️🎉🥳 I cannot believe my baby is 4 or should I say FOYY (in her voice)😄. Happy Birthday Mia Mia! Our summer time baby. We love you!😘💕🦄🦸🏽‍♀️🦄💕🌸🌷🍬 by @drjoveezy

Choppin🥁 in my classroom on the last day of school took me all the way back to my middle school days in Jackson, MS. Back when we didn’t have many drum pads—we were chopping on textbooks! 😂📚Shoutout to Dr. Ben and Meco for this 9-Stroke NEM Challenge. 🔥

Lately I’ve been spending time on my leather pad because it has much less rebound, reinforcing cleaner technique, stronger wrists, and more powerful rolls. 💪🏾

Notice the difference when I switch over to the other pad. Reminder that TRAINING under tougher conditions makes the normal conditions feel effortless.🥁🔥 Try it out!

Flam Accent and Flam 5ve Grid. Fun to try out different variations and orders — every switch-up unlocks a whole new feel. 🥁💕🔥 by @drjoveezy

I guess it’s music practice hour for everybody in the house. ☺️ Rudiments being played: alternating cheese taps & crescendo tap seven stroke rolls. The crescendo turns it into a Nice stick control exercise. 🥁💕 song in the background: I’m a little teapot😆 by @drjoveezy

Seven months ago, we were working through the basics—holding sticks properly, form, building confidence one rep at a time. 🥁Today, one of my students and I are playing a cadence we created together. Moments like this hit different for me… because I don’t just teach, I get to witness the evolution. 🔥The lightbulb moments. The confidence. The ownership. Watching students go from learning to creating is the real win. 🪄🏆
This is why it’s never a bad idea to pour into kids.
Full circle moments that I never take for granted.🙌🏾

Taking a try at @vl.lee13 new rudiment “3 Hot Ones” 🥵—fun, spicy, and definitely a challenge. Inspired by my bro 🐐straight outta New Orleans—where they NEVER short step! 😤🔥 Ironically I was rocking the vintage Cedar Grove HS band staff polo… shoutout to Blue Smoke fam 💙🖖🏾Go run it up and see if you can hang! I hope I played it right 😅 by @drjoveezy
