Last night, I had the extraordinary honor of standing before 75,000—in the heart of Washington, D.C— at the Ellipse. It was nothing short of magical! The energy in that crowd was a palpable, an electric current of passion that surged through, reminding me of the tremendous power we hold when we stand together. As a proud native of Mississippi and equally proud Atlanta resident and entrepreneur, I felt immense pride to see so many standing in unison.

In this critical time, I have a profound sense of duty and obligation. We are at a defining moment, and it is our responsibility to do our part, to uplift one another and ensure an inclusive path forward.

Let’s keep hope present and let’s make sure we vote.

A couple weeks ago I sat down with Forbes (full interview on YouTube via Forbes) to talk about pivoting, community, my passion and my mission for my companies @thevillagemarketatl, @thevillageretail and @ourvillageunited.

One thing I’m most passionate about is shifting our mindsets from individualism to collectivism. It requires a great deal of willingness and discipline to think and build differently.

I voted this morning, top to bottom.

This is a big ballot for Georgia. The governor’s office is open. So are lieutenant governor, secretary of state and attorney general. A U.S. Senate seat is on the line. And further down are the races that touch our daily lives the most: the state legislature, the Public Service Commission that sets our power bills, and, in many counties, county commission and school board.

That’s a rare chance to decide what kind of Georgia we’re building for the next generation. A Georgia that invests in public schools and pays teachers what they’re worth. One where working families can get affordable health care and keep the lights on. Where every eligible voter can cast a ballot without jumping through hoops. Where small businesses and entrepreneurs, especially the ones in our own communities, get the support they need to grow.

We’ve seen what Georgia voters can do when we show up. Let’s do it again, all the way down the ballot.

Check your sample ballot at mvp.sos.ga.gov, look up the names you don’t know, and bring your photo ID. Early voting runs through Oct. 30. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Support is a verb. So is voting. by @drkeyhallmon

✊🏾✊🏾NEW BLACK PAPER✊🏾✊🏾

Generational Wealth, Economic Freedom, and the Transformative Power of Entrepreneurship, by Dr. Lakeysha Hallmon (@drkeyhallmon) and Ashley DeFlanders of Our Village United (@ourvillageunited), with braintrust contributors Nadia French-Graham and Kelcey P. Morrow.

The median Black household holds $44,900 in wealth. The median white household holds $285,000.

This Paper names what can close that divide: capital, procurement reform, succession planning, wellness support, and community wealth building. It also shows a model that is already working.

Through the Village Model, more than 1,400 Black-owned businesses have been supported, and $10 million in direct sales has moved to Black entrepreneurs.

This might be your chapter if you run a business, are building one, or are planning what you will leave your family.

Read it free at StateOfThePPL.com (@stateoftheppl)

The Black Papers publishes with Routledge on October 30, and pre-orders open Friday.

We wrote it down. Now let’s own our power.

NEW VL!

In this September edition, we explore how visionary leaders build systems that last.

Dr. Lakeysha Hallmon (@drkeyhallmon) elevates entrepreneurial growth by scaling grassroots enterprise into global retail corridors. Building on this momentum, Jubril Arogundade charts Africa’s green mobility future through indigenous manufacturing and local EV ecosystems, while Moruf Adegbite unpacks how enterprises balance AI innovation with rigorous governance.

Finally, Bolu Onasanya explores the neuroscience of change, reminding us that true institutional evolution requires confronting our resistance to transformation.

Across these pages, this diverse conversation on building and intelligence is important for present-day entrepreneurs navigating modern scale.

What a great weekend @lovevillagebooks.

Yesterday Village Books was one of the booksellers for Colin Kaepernick's book talk at The Gathering Spot and the official bookseller for Tisha Campbell's book talk at Rolling Out. Two powerful conversations from two people on a mission, who wrote books with deep purpose.

Where we buy our books matters. Independent bookstores are where stories are protected and community is built. Keep choosing us.

Signed copies of both books are available at Village Books.

Cheers to my team for being on this journey with me.

Thank you to The Gathering Spot x NAB2, Tisha's team, and Rolling Out for the partnership. by @drkeyhallmon
