Just a New Year’s Day walk / watching water leak out of one of the worlds’ most polluted coastal sites into San Francisco Bay. Beautiful but really really toxic.

Sequence:

1: the Bay looking towards SF, water trickling thru the Bay Trail (an old rail line that brought African American workers to a WW2 factory site on the shore

2: the wetland adjacent to an old chemical factory site now planned for 4K units of affordable housing (fish in this wetland have tumors and are intersex)

3: the old very polluted lagoon of the chemical factory, draining into the city sewer after heavy rains

4: the radioactive site next door (gate should be locked but was open)

5: the Superfund site (Liquid Gold) next to Hoffman Marsh.

Best part? As sea level rises this will all eventually flood, bringing the pollutants into the bay.

I tried coming back to this app, but I can’t do it if it’s becoming more and more of a platform for disinformation. My participation puts $ in this guy’s pocket.

Beautiful day in Stockholm today - ending at a salty licorice store. I love salty licorice but had no idea that licorice saltiness is ranked on a 1-5 scale, like spicy food - the last image is of a “5”…the tastebud-killer. :) good to know your limits. 🧂 by @drkzhill
