Three days. That’s all that’s left to experience my exhibition “By and By: Telling Stories Through Silhouettes” at The Huntington.

What started as an exploration of a simple art form — the silhouette — became something that I hoped would fully resonate: a space where contemporary expressions of joy, grief, memory, and resistance could live side by side in stark, moving contrast with the past. Integrating the nuance of so many different styles, forms and material histories…

Over 168,000 engaged with the show digitally and soooo many experienced this show in-person. Every tour with young learners, staff, volunteers, and patrons truly touched my heart. Every “ I love this show!” meant so much.

Thank you for every visit from all my wonderful artists, lenders, friends, family and our thousands of visitors. For every message sent privately and through others to let me know that this show touched or moved you… I am truly honored ❤️❤️❤️

We close June 28 with a wonderful community festival celebrating all of @thehuntingtonlibrary amazing exhibitions that were a part of the This Land Is…initiative. A day full of art-making, tours, performances and more!

This is the grand finale and I am so thrilled to celebrate this moment with my colleagues. For those who have not had the opportunity to see the show, the reimagined Scott galleries, and the This Land Is…exhibition this is your chance to see them all on the same day! For By and By, catch it before the curtains close!

Happy Juneteenth!! Enjoyed listening to @stylistjbolin share his story at the @juneteenthmsm’s event exploring the connections between fashion, comedy and freedom. This program did not disappoint and I was so glad to enjoy it amongst family.

There are so many ways to observe Juneteenth and I am so glad I was able to share it with the ones I love! by @drlaurencross

A few snaps from the opening reception of the This Land Is… exhibition curated by my colleagues @lindeblehtinen @joshisawestern and @armandopulidojr @thehuntingtonlibrary! The show opens to the public tomorrow and will be on view through January 11, 2027.

I was so happy to capture filmmaker @desharae123 and the whole crew and cast of her documentary film Noni Olabisi: Troubled Island that tells the story of late painter and muralist Noni Olabisi’s iconic mural for the @wgsarts in Los Angeles, which was completed in 2003.

The Huntington just happens to have the original score of William Grant Still and Langston Hughes’ opera Trouble Island, which Olabisi’s mural is based on in our library collection signed by Hughes himself.

For the first time the exhibition displays this original score next to Olabisi’s painting telling a powerful story of the Haitian Revolution and how Black creatives have continued to connect this historic event to the ongoing project of Black liberation in our local communities. Dauchan’s film pulls all of these connections together in such a beautiful way. You can watch this stunning film displayed in the gallery next to Olabisi’s mural and on the exhibition page.

This is just ONE of the many stories that this exhibition captures and they are all so good!

Well done Linde, Josh and Armando you did it!! taken in The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens by @drlaurencross

I did not take nearly enough pictures to capture this historic moment of partnership between @juneteenthmsm, the newly opened Fort Worth African American Museum, and @kinfolkhouse_fw for NJM’s All n’ All exhibition for Freedom Vibes. A wonderful job well done by curator @artist_c_blay!!

I was just so happy to be present amongst all of the beautiful friends I have known for years while taking in this show. Shout out to @cho_ke who snapped this pic of me with my day ones from the original #indiecuratorscrew @talkingtea82 and @airinbarnett! Love you ladies ❤️❤️

Congratulations to all of the eleven artists featured in both exhibitions ✨ #fwartists #allinall by @drlaurencross

Through tapestry, Diedrick Brackens unravels and reweaves narratives of Black masculinity. Take a closer look at ‘In the valley” and “The flame goes” with curator Lauren 🧶🖼️

Brackens’ tapestries are on view in the Scott Galleries as part of “By-and-By: Telling Stories Through Silhouettes,” a gallery featuring historical silhouettes alongside profiles by contemporary Black artists such as Kara Walker, Mustafa Ali Clayton, and Charles White.
