I just finished reading through the edits of SEEN and man… this book is something different.

The story is stronger. The message is clearer. And the more I read it, the more I believe somebody is going to see themselves in these pages.

This book is for the person carrying things nobody knows about. The person who kept moving, kept showing up, kept handling life, but never really dealt with what was underneath it all.

To every person who called, texted, posted, prayed, or simply took a moment to wish me a Happy 50th Birthday—thank you.
I even had my own SONG created!!

Words can’t scratch the surface of how much it meant to me.

Half a century of living has taught me about love, loss, faith, appreciation, disappointment, purpose, survival, and becoming. Now, at 50, this season feels different. I’m learning to slow down, put my feet in the sand, spend time healing on the water, and allow myself to simply be present.

Somewhere between the sound of the waves and the stillness of the moment, the Divine asked me, “What do you see?”

My answer is different today.

Grace is clearer now. Lessons have emerged from what once looked like losses, purpose has grown from places that once held pain, and the future gives meaning to so much of what I had to survive to get here.

Scripture says, “Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof.”

At 50, those words hit differently.

This moment isn’t about reaching the end. It’s about honoring everything it took to arrive here while making room for what is still ahead. There are visions I haven’t seen fulfilled, places my feet haven’t touched, lives I haven’t impacted, and chapters that haven’t been written.

Through mountains and valleys, victories and disappointments, tears and unexpected blessings, one truth remains:

I’m still here.

Dreaming with greater clarity.
Believing with deeper faith.
Becoming without rushing the process.
Seeing beyond what my natural eyes could ever show me.

All glory to the Most High.

Thank you for celebrating 50 years of life with me. Every call, text, prayer, post, and expression of love mattered more than you know.

After half a century, I can put my feet in the sand, watch the moon reflect the SON. look across the water, and say with gratitude:

50 YEARS. ONE LIFE. ONE STORY I’M FINALLY READY TO TELL.

Today feels different.

For years, many of you have known me as Dr. Oliver T. Reid—the author, publisher, speaker, coach, and a man who has spent much of his life helping others find the courage to tell their stories. Yet behind everything you’ve seen publicly, there has always been one story I hadn’t completely told.

Mine.

NIGHT VISION: Illuminating the Unseen and Dimming the Unwanted is more than another book with my name on the cover. These pages carry the little boy I was, the man I became, the people who shaped me, the things I survived, what I lost, and the experiences that taught me there is a profound difference between having sight and having vision.

Reaching my 50th birthday carries a meaning that goes far beyond celebrating another year of life. My father and I share the same birthday, so this day belongs to both of us. Although he is no longer here physically, I celebrate his life, remember his presence, reflect on our journey, and honor the impact he left on mine.

Happy Heavenly Birthday, Dad.

Our relationship is part of the story I finally share in this book. Seeing his image beside the little boy I once was reminds me that NIGHT VISION isn’t simply a memoir—it represents legacy, reflection, healing, reconciliation, and a son honoring his father while finding the courage to tell his own story.

Certain chapters took years for me to understand. Others required even more time before I could put the truth on paper. At 50, I’m ready to open those pages.

The good. The painful. The complicated. The beautiful. The untold.
