POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
These photos are from a while back. 📸🚁

A drone event in Kenya. A room full of pilots, operators, instructors, and industry builders — most of us just figuring it out as we went.

Looking back at these pictures now, what strikes me most isn't how much has changed technically. It's how much the community has grown.

When I entered this space in 2021, drone technology in Kenya was still largely misunderstood. Most people associated drones with photography or military surveillance — full stop.

Fast forward to today and the conversation is completely different.

We're talking about precision agriculture transforming farms in the Rift Valley. Drone mapping replacing weeks of manual surveying on construction sites. Medical logistics reaching communities that road infrastructure can't. Training institutions producing licensed pilots at scale.Companies are building infrastructure that didn't exist five years ago.

The industry didn't grow because the technology arrived. It grew because people showed up — to events, to competitions, to workshops, to conversations — and built something collectively.

These photos remind me of that.
Whoever you are in this ecosystem — pilot, operator, trainer, agribusiness, or just someone watching from the sideline — the best time to get involved is still now. 🇰🇪

Sometimes you just stop and watch the city move.
Cars, people, lights… everything flowing while you’re standing still.

This hyperlapse was shot on my phone. No drone. No fancy gear. Just a higher viewpoint and a bit of patience.

And it got me thinking about a lot of drone operators I know.

They’re skilled. They fly well. They deliver good work.

But online, they’re still hard to find.

Clients don’t always hire the best pilot.

They hire the one they can actually see.

A clear profile, consistent content, and the right message can completely change how people notice your work — the same way a higher viewpoint changes how you see the city.

If you’re good at what you do but quiet online, this is your reminder to start showing up.

What’s one thing you’re doing this month to get more eyes on your drone work?

Drop it below 👇

At the Aviation Africa Expo I walked up to a Chinese drone company's stand to ask about their FPV drone specs. 🚁🇨🇳
What happened next stopped me for a moment.

The rep pulled out his phone, opened a translator app, I spoke into it — and it converted my words into Mandarin in real time. He responded in Mandarin and it translated back to me in English.

Honestly? Impressive. Communication technology has come a long way.

But standing there I couldn't help thinking — there's still something missing. A translation app can convert words. It can't read the room. It can't pick up on hesitation in a client's voice, build rapport across a table, or translate cultural context that changes how a pitch lands.

At an international expo where you're trying to sell technology to buyers from 30 different countries — the difference between a translator app and a human who genuinely understands the language and the audience is the difference between a transaction and a relationship.

Technology closes the gap. People bridge it. 🌍

25-30kg payload. Up to 1000km range. One drone.
Meet Malaika — built by @thatcherxke , a Kenyan company pushing the limits of what drones can actually do at scale. I got the breakdown straight from Samson Njoroge at Aviation Africa Expo.

This is the kind of tech that could change logistics and medical delivery across the region.

At Aviation Africa 2026 in Nairobi, I sat in a drone panel session with some of the most influential voices in aviation from across Africa and the globe.

Industry leaders. Regulators. Innovators. All in one room. All talking about the same thing — where drone technology in Africa is going and what it's going to take to get there.

A few things that stayed with me:
The consensus was clear — Africa is not behind on drones. In several sectors we are building use cases the rest of the world is watching. Medical logistics. Precision agriculture. Infrastructure mapping. Conservation.

The gap is not the technology. It's the infrastructure around it — regulation, investment, awareness, and the communication of what's actually possible.

Sitting in that session reminded me exactly why I do what I do. Someone has to translate what's happening in these rooms into language that reaches the operators, the agribusinesses, the institutions, and the decision makers who need to hear it.

That's the work. 🇰🇪

Everyone moving. Everyone talking. Everyone building something.

That's Aviation Africa Expo in one hyperlapse.

My biggest takeaway? Events like this are where real connections happen — not online, not through cold DMs, but face to face in rooms like this.

A few things I learned about making the most of an expo:
🔹 Go in with questions, not just a camera
🔹 Talk to the person at the stand, not just the product
🔹 Follow up within days, not weeks
🔹 Say yes to conversations you didn't plan for — they're usually the best ones

This is just the start. Full story dropping soon on YouTube — Dronemasterske. 🚁

In a hall full of international drone tech, one stand stopped me for a different reason.

Alila Industries — a Kenyan company — was exhibiting a fixed-wing drone designed and built right here at home. I got to sit down with their team and ask about the innovation behind it.

This is what it looks like when Kenya isn't just adopting drone technology — it's building it.

Full breakdown coming in my upcoming YouTube video on Aviation Africa Expo.

This one stopped me in my tracks at Aviation Africa Expo.
It's a tailsitter VTOL interceptor drone — meaning it takes off and lands vertically like a helicopter, then tilts into forward flight like a fighter jet. Built for speed and rapid response, not your typical hover-and-shoot drone.

This is the kind of tech that shows how far drone design has come — from simple quadcopters to purpose-built interceptors.

More breakdowns like this coming in my first long-form YouTube video — Dronemasterske. Follow so you don't miss it. 🚁✈️
