📍 **SPOT DROP: ANDROID TESTERS WANTED!**

We're getting ready to roll out our updated Android app through Google Play, and I'm looking for people willing to help test it!

Whether you're into fishing, hiking, camping, road trips, or discovering interesting places, I'd love to have you help us put Spot Drop through its paces.

**Here's how to join:**

1. Send me a private message with the email address you use for Google Play on your Android phone.
2. I'll add your email to our authorized tester list.
3. Once you're approved, use the Google Play invitation link below to join the testing program and install the app.

**Expected availability: Wednesday, October 14, starting at 1:30 PM Central Time, pending Google Play processing.**

Testing is completely FREE. All I ask is that you try the app and let me know what works, what doesn't, and what we can improve.

Big update for Spot Drop.
Spot Drop Outdoors LLC is officially formed, the business side is moving forward, and the app just cleared another major store-readiness milestone.
Over the last few weeks we have been tightening up the platform with things like better location search, improved Discover tools, account deletion controls, Community Guidelines, user reporting, Block User functionality, and a lot of behind-the-scenes privacy and moderation work.
The goal is still the same: make it easy to discover, save, and share great outdoor spots without turning the app into another noisy social platform.
We are also working through the steps needed for Apple and Google app store release. There is still work to do, but this thing is getting very real.
Thanks to everyone who has tested it, given feedback, or just followed along while I build it.

Spot Drop got some new shit.
And yes, those are screenshots from the actual app. We're taking a break from punishing everyone with AI-generated marketing pictures.
Pro Tips are live. Spot Drop can now point out some of the less-obvious things it can do as you explore. Search them, reset them, or turn them off completely.
Photo Location is live too. Adding somewhere you visited earlier? If your photo contains location data, Spot Drop can propose where it was taken and let you review it before using it.
And onboarding is shorter, because you came here to find shit, not read a manual.
That first Spot is Cockington Court in England, dropped by @TexTurner while traveling through the UK. Real place. Real user. Real Spot.
And we're just getting started.

Spring 1994-ish. 22 years old, stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas.

The Big Red 1 Skate & Bike Park had been built on post. I remember Mat Hoffman and some other riders coming through, and afterward a bunch of us headed into Manhattan and basically destroyed the place and K-State campus.

Calm down. Nothing actually destroyed. We skated everything we could find. 😂

And looking at these photos 32 years later, there's a pretty direct line between this and Spot Drop.

Back then you found places because somebody knew a Spot.

A ditch. Stairs. A ledge. Some weird piece of concrete behind a building. You piled into a car and went to find out whether it was actually worth skating. Maybe it was great. Maybe the pavement sucked. Maybe security ran you off before you even got warmed up.

The people actually skating knew the useful shit.

That's what I want Spot Drop to capture.

Not me sitting at home dropping every skatepark I can find on Google. You. Out skating.

Found a Spot? Drop it.

Something busted? Leave a comment.

Somebody lands something stupid? Add the short clip.

Got a badass photo? Add that too.

The more real Spots people leave behind, the more useful the map becomes for everybody who comes next.

My torn MCL currently has me on the injured-reserve list, but once that knee quits being an asshole I'll be back out there too.

Today’s Spot Drop update: fix a pin without losing your place. 📍

You can now move or delete your own Spots directly on the map, keeping your view while you make the correction.

Shout-out to Spot Drop user LndaPkLvr for trying it at Landa Park and pointing out that fixing a pin shouldn’t require a scavenger hunt.
