I'm absolutely heart broken 💔. Riley passed away in the middle of the night Sunday. I still don't know what to do without him. He has been with me for 16 years, but not long enough. I was so lucky to be able to have two soulmate cats. I lost my other boy Kami in 2022 and it has never been the same since. I at least I still had Riley left of our trio. Now it is just me and I know I will never have a cat like them and it's devastating. Riley was the perfect cat for me, it was like he was me in a male cat form. It feels like I will never be happy again, he took a piece of my heart with him, when he left.💕 by @drowners8521

🐇What Moves The Dead🐇

What Moves the Dead is the first creepy book I have read to start off the fall season. It is a retelling of The Fall of the House of Usher. I know people really like this author. This is my first read by her and I though it was just a little less than okay and gave it 2/5 stars. But I am willing to try another book by her since there are many that sound pretty interesting. Hopefully I will like them better. by @drowners8521

Bookstores in Saugerties and Kingston, we saw yesterday📖

-Inquiring Minds Bookstore in Saugerties
-Rough Draft in Kingston, the historic area. This Coffee/Bookstore is in one of the only remaining buildings in the city, that didn't get burned down by the British during the Revolutionary War by @drowners8521

Getting in some reading at the airport lounge, going to my sister's in New York for about a week. She got us admiral club passes so before the flight and layover flight, we got to stay in a very posh waiting area. It was so nice, and really good food and drinks,and just so much better. You could tell we were new to this "upscale" stuff, cause me and my parents were so impressed. The layover was in Philadelphia, so the second flight only took about 40 to 45 minutes and had a chance to get a little more reading in.

I'm so excited, we will be going to a town, Hobart, which has the most bookstores per capita. Population 400 with 7 bookstores. Over the weekend, we are going to Sleepy Hollow. On the last day, we will go into NYC, which is about 1 1/2 to 2 hours from my sister's house, and go to the Strand bookstore. There are so many little independent bookstores in the areas around her. These towns, like Kingston, Saugerties, and New Paltz are so cute and historical. My sisters house is a historical home, built in 1755 and is so neat. by @drowners8521

**Spoiler Warning - This may contain spoilers in book one, The Fabric of Our Souls **

This is book two in the Harlow Sanctum series, following The Fabric of Our Souls. This is Lanston's (who we met in the first book) story, after his death in book one. For five years he has been haunting this world, unable to pass on to the other side. He eventually meets a phantom, dancing with the performers at a spring event, and realizes they have similar issues, except for the fact that she has no interest in moving on. I gave it 3/5 stars because I didn't like it as much as the first book, but I thought they were both okayish, which meant the first book got a half star more, at 3 1/2 and this at a 3 star 🤷. by @drowners8521

A thank you to everyone who showed up to Riley's funeral. And a special thanks to @vincea05 , who shows up to these weird gatherings we may have and always shows up making an effort 😁. Even when he doesn't really have to as a spouse.

Riley would have loved all the dramatics and attention he was getting. It is very hard to say goodbye to him. There will never be another like him or comparable to him. 💔 by @drowners8521

The Heart of the Raven Prince

I want to thank @thenerdfam for the opportunity to listen to and review this audio copy of Heart of the Raven Prince by Parker A. Garner. It comes out tomorrow 10/6, so make sure to get your copy.

I was surprised by how much I liked this book. I mean, I knew it sounded interesting, but I'm pretty picky about fantasy books. I tend to not enjoy a lot of them and think they are a little too much. But this one sounded interesting enough to try. I thought I might kind of like it, but while listening to it, I realized I was really enjoying it. The story was well told and not over done, in the fantasy aspect, and the narrators were enjoyable to listen to. The characters were likeable, even with flaws and I cared about what was happening and going to happen to them. I gave this 4/5 stars and will definitely be listening to the next book, that continues the story.

Wyn wakes up in the hospital after a suicide attempt. There she meets an unusual nurse, but soon after, her rich brother sends her to an unorthodox treatment facility. She is surprised to see the man, she thought was a nurse, at the same facility.

This was a very dark romance. Readers who enjoy dark, emotional reads will love this book and I would recommend it. There was something that stopped me, personally, from loving it. I am not sure exactly what it is...maybe I thought the characters could have been a little more interesting. But I still enjoyed it and will try more of her books. There are a lot that still sound really good. I give this book a strong 3 1/2 stars.

The Death of Mrs. Westaway

A Tarot Card reader receives a letter telling her of a inheritance. She believes this letter was sent to her by mistake and was meant for someone else. She goes to the funeral and the home of the deceased person thinking she can pretend she was the correct person and defraud the family.
It was a pretty good suspense. I wish I liked the characters a little more and that maybe it was a little more suspenseful, but I was entertained throughout the book, so I'm giving it 3 1/2 stars
