Today marks the official release of our second single from our upcoming album, called "Fragments of a Lifetime".
Once again, we'd like to thank @hajoartwork for this incredible partnership with his expressive art; and also our guest @laisgonzalezz, who brought to life this character who is so relevant to the story of the album as a whole.
We hope you enjoy this song. Link in bio 🩵🤍🖤

We are proud to say that our new track called "The Nod", which will be released possibly next month, marks our first collaboration with the incredibly talented German visual artist/illustrator Hajo Müller (long-time collaborator with @stevenwilsonhq and @marivsz_riv)
We have 3 versions of this cover, and we are still defining which one will be the main one.
The song's story reflects the character finds direction in "The Bravery of a Tireless Mind"
Tell us which of the three you prefer 😁

Drowning Steps - The Bravery of a Tireless Mind: Book One

The Bravery of a Tireless Mind is Drowning Steps’ third album and, so far, their most authentic work. It’s a rock opera that blends modern prog with influences from the 70s.

Some of its influences include The Dark Third by Pure Reason Revolution, Misplaced Childhood by Marillion, Scenes from a Memory by Dream Theater, The Perfect Element by Pain of Salvation, and The Wall by Pink Floyd.

The album is part of a trilogy that began in 2017 with The Comfort of an Endless Pain, following a character inspired by the composer himself, Caio Claro.

While the first two albums explore his inner struggles and attempts to overcome the wounds of the past, this third chapter focuses on his search for the courage to move forward. Along the way, his friends are portrayed as angels who help him piece together the parts of himself he has lost.

I really like this idea, especially because it shows how we sometimes need other people to find ourselves again and rediscover a sense of meaning in life. It’s a very human portrayal of the importance of friendship during difficult times.

The contrast between hope and suffering comes through in the relationship between “Fragments of a Lifetime” and “The Nod.” The former portrays a reunion with friends and the feeling of finally being okay, but its ending suggests that something is beginning to change, as if a warning sign were emerging amid the calm.

“Waiting For Redemption” is, in my opinion, the best track on the album and definitely one of Drowning Steps’ best songs so far. There are moments that remind me a lot of Spock’s Beard, both in the progressive sound and in the way the song unfolds. I really love how it turns out, and I think it’s one of the year’s highlights.

With a narrative rooted in its creator’s own experiences and reflections, The Bravery of a Tireless Mind explores the struggle to confront the past and find the strength to move forward.

And it’s incredible to see how all that conceptual ambition translates into the music throughout the album! taken in Brasil by @drowning.steps

Yesterday, we were chatting with our dear friend @omaatheuscoutinho, who used to contribute to DS in countless ways—album covers, photos, videos; basically, he always worked as if he were a third member, and we’re grateful for that.
This photo came up during the conversation. It’s great to share it, as it marks the time we started recording our third album (yes, it’s been five long years—this was back in 2022). The funny thing is, I looked like a teenager, and Tiago had a few gray hair yet. Good Lord 😂 by @drowning.steps

Earlier this year, I invited one of the artists I admire most in the current progressive rock scene: Robin Peachey, the vocalist and frontman of Returned to the Earth.
His contribution turned out wonderfully.
Thanks for lending us your voice, Robin :)
