If you would have told me a short time ago that I would be fishing in the Amazon rainforest in Colombia with 2 brothers I would have told you that you were delusional. That didn’t suck in the slightest! It’s hard to express how exciting these fish are. You throw a streamer and all of a sudden you have 3 of these guys racing towards your fly in a battle of the fittest to see who gets to eat the feathers you just tossed in the depths. They were very acrobatic and the larger beasts dug like a brown trout on steroids. Such a fun species to target. I don’t think this will be the only time I try to fool these guys with a streamer.

The Silver King. I can’t explain to anyone who has not hooked up to one of these beasts how truly violent and exhilarating it is. Especially in this fishery where you don’t see the tarpon or the take, your world goes from serene and peaceful to utter chaos in a blink of an eye. I talked to multiple people about this monster before going on this trip and was warned by the guides before I hooked up to one on how strong they were. All of that did not prepare me for the moment! The power and strength of these dinosaurs is unexplainable. Now I know why they refer to it as the Silver KING. WOW!
