Meet Dr. Sadaf Fazel: MOD partner, Director of MOD Canada, and the newest addition to our team. A Vancouver clinician, practice owner, UBC graduate, and Invisalign Diamond Provider, she brings serious drive to modern dentistry, connecting clear aligner therapy with restorative care. Digital design, treatment planning, and 3D printing are in her DNA, and she’s passionate about helping fellow dentists put these tools to work with confidence. With big ambition, a relentless commitment to learning, and a patient-first philosophy, Sadaf is someone you want to learn from and we’re proud to have her on the team. by @drsadaffazel

A quieter Q4, with bigger ambitions for what’s next.

Fewer in-person courses means more time to create on-demand content, share what I’ve learned, and reach more doctors beyond the lecture room.

Throwback to the Clearly Illuminate conference last year in Palm Springs. Talking about how we can become better diagnosticians as dentists and dental teams to help patients truly see the value in what we offer.

Excited to be back this year diving even deeper into digital dentistry workflows, from aligner therapy and ortho-restorative planning to Exocad design and 3D printing.
Dentistry is changing fast, and honestly, it’s such an exciting time to be part of it. #Alignertherapy#orthodontics#orthorestorative#comprehensivedentistry by @drsadaffazel

✨ Before they say yes, they need to see it.

Patients come in with so many questions. How many teeth? What shape suits me? Do I even need this?

A trial smile connects the dots.

It’s the moment they meet the version of themselves they never thought could exist. 💛
That’s emotional dentistry.

They’re not saying yes to treatment. They’re saying yes to their future self.
When it’s designed right, it’s thin, accurate and effortless, so the vision feels real.
Move them first. The treatment follows. 🤍

Ever wondered what your dentist is like outside of the dental chair? 🦷🤍

We sat down with Dr. Sadaf Fazel for a fun little round of rapid-fire questions so you can get to know the person behind the smile!

Here’s what she had to say.

$3D printing has made everyday dentistry SO much simpler. About 15 min to numb, prep and scan, 10 to design, 10 to print, 15 to process and cure. Add bonding and finishing, in my workflow this patient walks out with a custom onlay in about an an hour 10-20. But honestly? The speed isn’t even my favourite part. When you place a big composite directly, it shrinks as it cures, and that pulls on the walls it’s bonded to. The more bonded walls, the more stress. That can strain the bond and flex the cusps, and it can contribute to gaps and sensitivity. With an onlay, most of that curing happens outside the mouth. We’re just bonding an already-cured piece with a thin layer of resin, so way less material is shrinking inside the tooth. That’s the biomimetic piece for me: save healthy tooth, cover the weak cusps, respect how the tooth handles load, and keep stress at the bond low. Printing just makes that doable in one visit at a fraction of the cost. Easy, conservative and the patient gets on with their day. 🦷 Designed in @iteroscanner Design Suite and printed with @sprintray Midas. #simplifydentistry#digitaldentistry#biomimeticdentistry by @drsadaffazel$

Want to scare a dentist this Halloween? Tell them we’re going back 40 years.
Ripped chairs, an old-school TV, and an actual darkroom to develop X-rays. No scanners. No digital workflows. Just you, an impression tray, and a whole lot of waiting.
Not to mention paper records. Need to find something? Good luck. Your search engine is a filing cabinet.
I can handle a haunted house. But taking away my scanner and 3D printer? That’s where the real horror begins. #oldschool#dentistry#goodolddays by @drsadaffazel

8 months of aligner therapy with @invisalign followed by 4 3D printed veneers designed in @exocadofficial and printed with @sprintray Midas Crown HT in shade B1. My secret has always been using tooth movement to minimize, and almost always avoid, removing tooth structure.
The goal goes beyond static occlusion or Angle classification. It’s about more than moving Class II or III to Class I. It’s about making restorative work more conservative, improving function and comfort, and creating outcomes built to last.

Less drilling means more tooth structure preserved and ultimately creating a better patient experience.

That’s always been my mission 🫶🏻 #alignertherapy#orthorestorative#digitaldentist by @drsadaffazel

Centrifuge cleaning of MIDAS prints is LIFE-CHANGING!

Using a centrifuge to clean 3D prints is nothing new. In fact, about six years ago, Graphy was already recommending centrifuge cleaning in its instructions for 3D-printed aligners.

Recently, a few of my star alumni started using centrifuges to clean their MIDAS prints, so naturally, I had to test it myself.

And WOW, I can tell you right now, if you’re printing multiple units or complex restorations, this is an absolute game changer.

4,000 RPM. 60 seconds. DONE.

The amount of residual resin removed in just one minute is incredible. It’s a massive time saver, especially when you’re processing multiple restorations.

But here’s what really impressed me.

These are ultra-thin MIDAS veneers with SprintRay Easy-Peel supports, and even those delicate restorations survived the centrifuge without any issues in my testing!

And the best part?

The centrifuge cost me $200 on Amazon.

Here’s the exact unit I’m using:

CGOLDENWALL Lab PRP Benchtop Centrifuge

* 100–4,000 RPM
* 1–99 minute timer
* 8 × 15 mL capacity

This is absolutely worth exploring if you’re doing high-volume MIDAS printing!#themodinstitute #3dprintingdentistry #sprintray #noprepveneers by @drsadaffazel

London was the backdrop. The people made the trip. Dior just did some damage. 🤍 by @drsadaffazel

Dentistry is about people. The teeth are only part of the story.
Behind every smile is someone with fears, hopes, and a reason they finally walked through your door.
Get curious. Listen closely. Understand what matters to them before deciding what comes next.
That’s the secret sauce: care that makes people feel understood. by @drsadaffazel

October is almost over. How did that happen?!
But we still have November, December, and today.
We put so much pressure on January 1st to be the day we finally start becoming who we want to be. Why wait?
Take the course. Make time for yourself. Start the habit you keep putting off. Keep one small promise to yourself, then another.
You don’t have to become a whole new person before the year ends. But you can start showing up for the person you want to become.
Every day is a starting point. Let’s give the rest of this year some credit. There’s still a lot we can do with it. #letsgo#lifeisawesome#motivation by @drsadaffazel
