#MenopauseHormoneTherapy to be COVERED by Canadian Province of BC!!! #GoCanadaGo !

Follow @drteresawood as she helps you navigate the growing evidence of safety & efficacy for the treatment of #perimenopause #menopause #vulvar #vaginal changes, #bladderinfection recurrences #insomnia #palpitations #instamood #focus #memoryloss #jointpain & the many things for which proper HORMONE BALANCE could be life & sexlife saving/stabilizing. And find out HOW MUCH SAFER it can be than NOT having help!

After becoming the 1st state/province to PROVIDE FREE BIRTH CONTROL, in a powerful move last April, BC Canada has just signed an agreement to FUND the biggest health care initiative for middle aged women.

Until now, treatment for the many life-changing #Menopause symptoms most women will undergo, has been grossly silenced by the medical world, media, poor science & much of society.

100% of women will who live into their 40s, 50s & 60s will go through peri/menopause.

SO MANY will present to clinics & ER’s with MULTIPLE serious symptoms for which no diagnosis is found. MOST of these life changing & life threatening symptoms for women can be treated with a careful balance of Estrogen Progesterone & Testosterone, the 3 hormones that we lose at a time we are still expected to be working FT, parenting, caring for elders, enjoying life & sexuality, and hopefully SLEEPING.

Confused about Hormones & Doctors? Even doctors seem to be! Some are still following misinterpreted data from the #WomenHealth Initiative (WHI) from 25 yrs ago. Some are sure that the current hormone expert MDs are just “influencers”, despite decades of dedicated training in women’s sexual health, gender medicine & hormone affects on brains, bodies, genitals, etc

Women can present to the ER or their doctor’s with ~10-12 different issues & be treated with multiple pharmaceutical agents, or told they are “just stressed”.
Best practice of clinical medicine? Find what 1 thing would best explain ALL of these symptoms. Yet: Women are stressed full-time in our society. So, as doctors, we could/should ask: Why Now? Why is this human presenting NOW, at the age of 40-55 wondering if they have dementia, mood disorders, heart palpitations, sleep disorders, attention deficit, memory issues, joint pain, bladder infections, sex concerns, and disregulation at work & at home? Of course they are stressed! They have all of the above symptoms!! What ONE explanation, Doctor, could solve all of these, instead of treating each one with a new medication & cumulative side effects?

What if maintaining hormones as Nature balanced them in each human, for what used to be our life-expectancy, would help us continue to “feel like ourselves” when we outlive our reproductive years?

Old-school medical education, full of fear-mongering about our natural hormones, is clashing with current expert female doc experience, research & teaching around proper interpretation of data regarding hormone therapy.

We argue about calling it hormone replacement therapy, #HRT, or menopause hormone therapy, #MHT, while neither are accurate. I think we should call it hormone maintenance therapy. HMT. In essence: maintaining the hormone balance that nature created for each human seems to be the best way to keep each person feeling like themselves, staying well & thriving.

Don’t let any doctor tell you it’s just stress.

You know yourself.
You just want to feel like YOURSELF again.
Find a doctor who knows how to help.
Find a doctor who listens & believes you.

Last night I had the honour of attending the world premiere of Menopause: Coming In Hot at the Whistler Film Festival — and wow.

A theatre full of midlife women, laughing, crying, nodding, gasping, SEEING themselves reflected on screen… do you know how rare that is?

We were told to wear a pop of red, and the whole room felt electric — humour, truth, community, and a little bit of rebellion woven into every moment.

Watching this film reminded me how deeply underserved midlife women still are.
How often we’re dismissed.
How often we’re told to “push through.”
How often we’re left navigating symptoms, identity shifts, and emotional labour in silence.

And yet — in that room — you could feel a shift.
Women are DONE being minimized.
DONE being confused.
DONE suffering alone.

We are telling our stories.
We are reclaiming our midlife.
We are advocating for ourselves and each other.

This is exactly why I do the work I do.
Midlife shouldn’t feel like falling apart in the dark — it should feel like a renaissance. One built on understanding, agency, physiology, identity, movement, and community.

If last night proved anything, it’s this:
We are not invisible.
We are not “too much.”
We are not done.
We are rising. ❤️🔥

✨ International Women’s Day: The Power of Knowledge & Advocacy ✨

Today, on International Women’s Day, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and brilliance of women everywhere. But we also recognize that there’s still work to be done—especially when it comes to women’s health.

For too long, menopause and perimenopause have been ignored, misunderstood, and dismissed. Women have been told to “tough it out” when real solutions exist.

💡 Did you know?
🔸 Menopause impacts over 10 million women in Canada, yet most of us were never taught what to expect.
🔸 Perimenopause can start years before menopause—affecting sleep, metabolism, mood, and pain levels.
🔸 Many women are still struggling to access proper care, hormone therapy, and support.

It’s time to change that.

🔥 This is exactly why I’m hosting The M Factor Screening in Whistler on April 16—to bring this conversation into the open, empower women with knowledge, and push for better healthcare solutions.

📢 Want to celebrate International Women’s Day in a meaningful way?
✔️ Advocate for better education & healthcare.
✔️ Have the conversations we weren’t taught to have.
✔️ Join us on April 16 and be part of the movement.

🎟 Tickets are on sale now: https://www.showpass.com/the-m-factor-screening-whistler/ (ticket link in bio!)

Because when women are informed, supported, and empowered, we ALL thrive. 💜

The sky was on 🔥 last night, w/ #auroraborealis. YOU don’t have to be! 🥵

October is Menopause Month. 🤩

Reminder: Menopause is not just about how HOT women get as they age! 🔥 Peri/menopause is a constellation 💫 of moving parts that leave women not feeling like themselves & in many many cases, unable to cope. We have solutions that are not being discussed enough!

100% of women will go through menopause.

And while this is not a life changing health issue for ALL women, MOST will need solid answers. MANY MANY will benefit from hormone/MHT balance, dietary changes, exercise revamping, vulvo-vaginal hormones to keep sxx, mood, work, sleep & family life smoothe, enjoyable, balanced, & HOT in a good way!

#StayTuned as we teach why testing doesn’t matter as much as #symptoms; why women need to be listened to/ heard, and why access to treatment needs to improved HUGELY, as only 4% of the 100% going through this are accessing knowledgeable care!!! 96% are being MISSED.
