The first assignment in my Management class is a SELF management project that spans the whole 16 week semester. Students use the S.M.A.R.T. Goal framework to set clear goals in 3 areas of personal development:
1. Professional - students focus on a goal that will help their future careers.

2. Physical - This one is more about making their health a priority despite other academic demands.

3. Personal - this one is about being more intentional in their relationships. Nurturing healthy relationships takes effort!

Great leaders first need to lead themselves well - this is the foundation we build on!
These are not resolutions, this in intentional personal development that will help them be better managers in the future!

I can hardly wait to share what I have been building the past few months!!!

After teaching business leadership and communication in the classroom for the past decade, I am bringing the business school to you in the form of corporate seminars, retreats, and private executive coaching.

Please check out my new website drtessbreen.com and share with your HR friends who might need an outside facilitator for your next meeting!

What an incredible day celebrating the graduation of so many of my very own @chapmanu @chapmanargyros students today! I’m beyond proud and grateful to have walked alongside your journey to this moment. I’m also grateful for these incredible faculty members who have become friends and respected colleagues. It’s been 20 years since I walked across that stage myself and it’s truly more special to cheer you on from the front row. I am rooting for you. Always. Time to go change the world. 😎 #chapmanu #graduation #classof2026 #college #businessschoollife taken in Chapman University by @drtessbreen

@stevecad is easily the favorite guest speaker in my Management of Organizations class @chapmanu . In a career climate that seems increasingly dismal, he gave some hope, while confirming what I’ve been preaching to my students all year: HUMAN SKILLS are the differentiators in business. Technical skills are important, but things like data analytics can now be outsourced to machines. Strong communication and leadership skills will create the opportunities technical skills can’t. #futureofwork #stevecadigan #graduation #college #collegegrad taken in Chapman University by @drtessbreen

I don’t feel like I’m old enough to have kids this age 💀 but being their mom is the greatest adventure. They are my favorite people to hang out with and my best friends. Having 4 kids is super chaotic logistically, but the love is multiplied and for a [retired] party girl it feels like a party every day in our house! 🎉
@kensiebreenmusic wrote this song for me on Mother’s Day last year. 😭💞 best gift ever.

Happy Mother’s Day to my #momager 💞
I wrote this song for her last #mothersday and got a chance to record it to share with all of you this past year in Nashville. It’s dedicated to all of you moms today! 💖 taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @drtessbreen

Always the highlight of my semester to share the mission of @frost_fund with my Management of Organizations class. Nonprofit can be a business (and a tax write off!). My friend @brittneirae brings the energy and HOPE, not just for the animals’ lives who are saved through this work, but also sharing how IMPACT can happen through coporate social responsibility, volunteer work, and PAID INTERNSHIPS. *she’s also a fellow @chapmanu Alumna! @chapmanualumni @chapmanargyros
