Today’s Featured Drummer:
Nikhil Rajkumar from Chennai and he is just 17 years old. He has been learning to play the drums for the past 13 years. Has completed all 8 grades with distinction for drums from the Trinity College of London.
Currently he is working on getting an LTCL certification.
He has been most passionate about drumming, especially heavy and technical music like death metal and progressive metal, deriving inspirations from bands like Dream theater, Sepultura, Gojira, Slipknot, Animals as leaders, Tool etc.
Earlier Nikhil used to play to indian cinematic songs but after coming across Mike Portnoy's progressive drumming concepts, he got swept off his feet and started exploring this new and interesting world of metal. Some of his most influential drummers include Matt Garstka, Danny Carey, Mike Portnoy and many more.
He is super glad to be able to learn and preach this artform and also ever grateful to his family and friends to support him throughout all these years. Peace
@djzak_007

About the song covered:
Gojira - Wisdom Comes
Gojira is a heavy metal band from France who have created revolutionary sounds. Nikhil being a metal enthusiast absolutely loved this banger so he went forth and covered it on the drums. Its originally played by Mario Duplantier. @gojiraofficial @marioduplantier

Posted @withregram • @ginobanksofficial One of the most hard working and dedicated human beings I have had the privilege of knowing. He worked with Dad and me for approximately 9 years. He worked very closely with me in almost all my musical work. One of the best Drum technicians and Musical Instrument Care Takers I have seen. His effort was enormous. His dedication to getting my rig setup and the rest of the band comfortable on stage to help us put up the best performance we can. His proactive attitude in a recording session or a film shoot with making sure the gear was spotless and shining and looking it’s best, the mic’ing of the kit, the connection of the keyboards, the way the cables were set and always very into knowing what kind of sound we were getting and if there was anything he could do to make it better. He was genuinely interested. He was very hard on himself if things were not right. He helped us unconditionally to make it easy for us to be the best that we could be at the time.

As artists we are dedicated to our performance individually and as a group. People like him made sure that we were the most comfortable and trouble free in order to achieve that goal.

Closely working with Sivamani and then joining us as well as working a stint at The Blue Frog to being a drum technician with Jai and Vinayak along with Andrew on a few dates as well. He was a very dedicated hard working guy. He was very well known in the recording studios, concert auditoriums and event companies.

This is a very untimely loss and a Huge loss! My Deepest Condolences from My Family, Eden and myself to his mother, sisters and the rest of his family and friends.

Rest in Peace Mani 🙏
Vairamani Kalimuthu
